Wii U

James Anderson, a programmer over at Intelligent Systems, is listing a mysterious game for Nintendo’s new console on his LinkedIn profile.

On his CV, Anderson mentions that he’s “currently working on an unannounced title for the Wii U, as well as providing tools support for other internal teams.” There’s speculation that some of his responsibilities could be related to Wii Sports Club, though that’s far from confirmed.

Anderson most recently worked on Paper Mario: Sticker Star and Game & Wario.

A tweet Rogers published a short while ago states that the firmware is going live sometime this week, perhaps as early as Monday.

The tweet reads:

The Wii U’s next update is the second of two major firmware upgrades for the console. Nintendo hasn’t said what will be included, but the system’s speed (loading times and associated elements) should be improved.

Not many people own this particular version of Need for Speed: Most Wanted, but I must give it my recommendation if you willing to take the time to learn it; it’s pretty darn good as an arcade-y racer. The glitches I cannot be quite as positive about, but I think we had some good fun here either which way! Enjoy. :]

Nintendo is planning extended maintenance for the Wii U and 3DS this coming Monday. Online play, rankings, and other related Internet elements will be affected.

An announcement on Miiverse also confirms that the service will be affected by maintenance on Monday. Features such as friend requests, block list and messages will be unavailable.

The maintenance will begin at 8 AM PT. It’s expected to end a few hours later – specifically 5 PM PT.

Nintendo has been working on the next firmware update for the 3DS. According to the generally-reliable Emily Rogers, the download was originally scheduled for October. The update, however, has apparently been pushed back to an unspecified timeframe.

The Wii U is also expected to be receiving a major update – first announced several months ago during a Nintendo Direct. Rogers teased on Twitter that the new firmware will arrive “sooner than you think.”

The tweet in full, which also contains an interesting tidbit regarding Ubisoft, reads:

Asked to elaborate on the Ubisoft note, Rogers tweeted:
