Square Enix is planning to launch a beta for the Wii U version of Dragon Quest X early next year. It was revealed on today’s Japanese Nintendo Direct that the test is officially set for February 2013. Consumers who purchase the Wii U Premium Sets will receive a voucher to participate in the beta.

The Nintendo Direct broadcast outlined a few other Wii U-specific details as well. It will, of course, feature HD visuals and use of the GamePad, which will house a transparent keyboard. Players will be able to import their character data from the Wii game as the two versions are housed on the same servers.

You can play through Rayman Legends without Murfy/GamePad

I get the feeling that Rayman Legends’ Murfy will be one of those love/hate things, just like Rayman Origins’ Mosquito levels. Some people couldn’t care less about him while others are more open to the possibilities he brings to the table.

For those of you who would prefer playing through Legends without Murfy, you’ll be pleased to hear that the entire campaign can be experienced without his presence. Furthermore, it looks like you won’t need to use the GamePad at all if this is something you’d prefer.

Assassin’s Creed III breaks Ubisoft pre-order record

Assassin’s Creed III is Ubisoft’s most pre-ordered game ever. Moreover, pre-orders have more than doubled those of Assassin’s Creed Revelations, a title that previously held the record.

Tony Bartel, president of GameStop, commented:

“Pre-orders for Assassin’s Creed III at GameStop are nearly 100% higher than last year, putting the game on track to be one of the top titles of 2012. In addition, Ubisoft is offering high quality DLC available at launch to bring even more excitement to this title.”

Tony Key, senior vice president of sales & marketing, chimed in as well:

“Assassin’s Creed III is one of the most anticipated games of the year and this impressive pre-order mark is just a hint of the game’s potential. When players discover the new features, historical period, characters and gaming experience that the development team has worked so hard to create, we’re confident that they will agree that this is the biggest, best Assassin’s Creed game yet.”

In NINJA GAIDEN 3: Razor’s Edge, the enigmatic warrior Ryu Hayabusa must fight to lift a curse that threatens to destroy him. You won’t have to pay for Monster Online 3 Ultimate’s online on Wii U. Capcom confirmed during today’s Japanese Nintendo Direct that the experience will be completely free. The company also said that the 3DS downloadable quests made available following launch will be included on the Wii U disc.
