No Bit.Trip Runner 2 for Wii due to limitations, Wii U version might be possible
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
If you’ve been keeping track of multiplatform news on our sister site, then you probably saw the announcement that Gaijin Games is developing Bit.Trip Presents: Runner 2. Although the franchise started out on WiiWare, Runner’s sequel will not be making an appearance on the service (or the 3DS for that matter).
Gaijin Games’ Alex Neuse said in an interview that the title won’t be made for the Wii because it “cannot handle the game.” On the bright side, the studio is considering Runner 2 for Wii U.
“…the Wii cannot handle the game. If the console were able to hang with what we’re going to be doing on the PS3 and 360, we would definitely be bringing it to the Wii as well. I mean, you know us; we love the Wii! Now, we are considering Wii-U, but we’re not ready to officially announce anything yet.”

Ninja Gaiden Wii U “not being developed in parallel” with PS3/360 versions, Team Ninja wants to push console “as hard as it can”
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
This information comes from Tecmo Koei localisation head Peter Garza, who was asked about Ninja Gaiden: Razor’s Edge…
“It is still there. It’s not being developed in parallel, but we do have the game up and running on the dev hardware. We’re still playing with control schemes to see what would be fun with Wii U, but it’s definitely there and it’s definitely getting worked on.”
Garza was also asked how much Team Ninja has squeezed from the Wii U so far…
“That’s kind of hard to say right now because, like I said, we’re just getting it up and running now on Wii U. And we’re still finding out what the hardware can do and how to work with the hardware itself. Right now, we’re at a very early stage, so we can’t say that we’re pushing it to its limits right now. But I can tell you that the team being what it is is definitely interested in pushing the hardware as hard as it can. With 3DS, when we brought out Dead or Alive: Dimensions, that was one of the best looking 3DS games out there. And we really wanted to use whatever hardware we were on, we want to use to its full potential and really push that. Not just in spec, but the features that make that hardware unique. So for right now with Wii U, we’re just starting to know what Wii U is and how we can make it fun.”
Interestingly, Ninja Gaiden: Razor’s Edge is very early on in development – perhaps moreso than some originally thought. Team Ninja apparently just started to get the game running on Wii U a couple of weeks ago.

EA says they’ll be bringing their key franchises to Wii U, more
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
This information comes from Electronic Arts’ chief operating officer Peter Moore…
“There are no indications that there’s anything that feels like it’s off target. From our perspective right now, specs are a big deal. …No one thinks its going to replace an iPad 2 but it is playing into what a consumer feels comfortable with. …Our teams are working on it around the world. Our key franchises will be there. We’ve made that commitment to Nintendo.”
In addition to the comments above, Moore said that he’ll be visiting Nintendo’s headquarters to receive an update on the console. He’d like to obtain additional details about Wii U, such as its graphic/computer processing units, price, and potential launch date.
Visceral Games hiring for a Dead Space project on PS3, 360, and a third mystery platform
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News, Wii U | 0 comments
Visceral Games is hiring a Senior Environment Artist for a position relating to the Dead Space franchise. The listing has been spotted on CreativeHeads.
The interesting part of this news is that the artist will immediately start work on a project for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and an “unannounced” platform. There have been Dead Space 3 rumors flying around recently… and Wii U could handle that title with ease. Perhaps EA intends to develop a port for the upcoming console.
The only question is, would EA consider bringing a second Dead Space game to a Nintendo console? Dead Space Extraction completely bombed on Wii, though to be fair, it was an on-rails shooter and wasn’t what fans had expected. At the same time, there’s no denying that Extraction was a high-quality title.
Ultimately we don’t even have a confirmation that this is Dead Space 3-related, nor do we know that the “unannounced” platform is Wii U. They’re strong assumptions, but in the end they are just guesses!
Thanks to Jake for the tip!

It’s amazing how much we’ve seen of Dragon Quest X in the span of about a month. In early August, we had no idea that Square Enix would be providing a full blow-out of the game along with weekly screenshot updates!
