According to Eurogamer, Ubisoft’s Rayman Origins sold just 50,000 copies in the U.S. last month. That’s across all three platforms – Wii, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. This is pretty disappointing given how the game has been universally praised.

Nintendo 3DS and Wii Cross Major Milestones after Record-Breaking Black Friday

Strong sales on Black Friday pushed the U.S. installed base of the Wii™ system to 37.7 million units and helped the Nintendo 3DS™ system surpass the first-year totals of the Nintendo DS™ system (2.37 million) after only eight months on the market, according to the NPD Group, which tracks video game sales in the United States. Other milestones reached in November include:

  • The Super Mario 3D Land™ game for Nintendo 3DS sold more than 625,000 units and is the fastest-selling portable Super Mario™ title in U.S. history.
  • The Legend of Zelda™: Skyward Sword for the Wii system had the biggest first day in franchise history and sold more than 600,000 units in its first week.

As a reminder, European Nintendo fans can download Pullbox, Blaster Master Enemy Below, Christmas Wonderland, Bloons TD 3 and Paper Wars Cannon Fodder this week.


Cambridge, Mass. – December 9th, 2011 – Harmonix today announced that on December 13th a three-pack of songs from progressive rock masters Rush, along with single tracks from Black Veil Brides and Volbeat will come to the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Wii™.

Rock Band provides the deepest and best selection of artists, songs and albums through the Rock Band music platform, which features more than 900 artists and more than 3,000* tracks via disc and download purchase (complete list of tracks at www.rockband.com/songs). Rock Band’s gigantic music library dwarfs that of any other rhythm video game on the market. More than 100 million songs have been sold through the Rock Band Music Store since its launch on Nov. 20, 2007.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 has been rated by the Korean Game Rating Board. Although SEGA hasn’t revealed any details about the game, the listing could mean that it’ll be released within the next couple of months. Expect some information on Episode 2 soon.
