[Let’s Talk] The Super Mario Bros. Movie first trailer reactions
The day many were waiting for finally arrived this week with the first trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Nintendo even decided to show off the teaser by broadcasting it in a special Nintendo Direct. The trailer was obviously the main point of the whole thing, but we did get to hear a few words from Shigeru Miyamoto, Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri, Chris Pratt (the voice of Mario), and Jack Black (the voice of Bowser).
Now that the dust has settled on the first trailer, what are thoughts on what was shown? How are you feeling about Mario’s look in the movie? Are you liking (or disliking) what you’ve heard from Chris Pratt and Jack Black? Let us know in the comments below.
Highlight from last week’s topic: What are you playing? – October 2022

Been playing a bunch of Splatoon 3. Finished the campaign, and l’ve gotten around to the online features. lt’s fun, but the matchmaking feels wonky, and King Cohozuna in Salmon Run feels impossible to beat. l want to at least get the basic badges for everything in the game, and beating him 100 times seems unlikely unless l derank from Profreshional and get lucky with teammates.
l’m in the middle of the first Great Ace Attorney game too. l’m probably going to finish that, and look into something else, but l haven’t decided what.

I recently finished Xenoblade 3 and I’m just doing side quests and exploring the world.
Was supposed to beat it last month but depression suddenly hit and I couldn’t keep playing it for a while.
So I 100% Super Mario 64 again instead. Man, I know a lot of people dislike the 3D All-stars collection, but having the happy wahoo man always available is something I feel really grateful. Those three games have something that simply makes me feel happy with myself.
Xenoblade 3 was really good, but it has some things that I simply didn’t enjoy as much. The combat didn’t feel fun so I avoided a lot of fights, and I do not like the class system. Choosing the arts for each character every time I changed someone’s class was… annoying so at some point I simply choose random.
Noah and Mio were really bland so the main story just never hit with me. The chapter were that happened didn’t feel emotional to me because I didn’t really care about them.
The villains were really forgettable. Sure, the first Moebius that appeared and N were fine, but the rest of them were just a Monster of the week type of villains. They were there because the we needed someone to beat, but a huge monkey saying “uga uga” could replace most of them just fine and there wouldn’t be a difference in the story. Mainly on the side quests.
Hero quests are good but I swear whoever decided we have to go around the map listening to a bunch of NPCs talking, then going to a camp site to see what everyone in the party thinks about it JUST to accept almost every missions hates me. And most of them start by sending you to talk with someone.
Why did they do that? why does it takes so much time just to accept a side quest? why?
Then there are other things like the music, the map, the inventory… but the post is long enough already.
8.5/10. I’m gonna get the season pass once it gets released.
I’m also playing Captain Toad. Really fun thus far.

Catalog level 72.
26 Levels till I get the Dab.
The grind in Splatoon 3 is fun, but very real.

Xenoblade 3, keep getting sidetracked by sidequests (my favorite thing in this series) and Blasphemous.
