Axiom Verge a possibility for NX launch
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 9 Comments
Axiom Verge is making its way to Wii U soon, but that might not be the only Nintendo platform it ends up on. The game’s developer recently made a comment suggesting that a port could come to the NX as well.
The full statement reads:
I got a piece of good news today that indicates I might be able to have Axiom Verge ready for NX at launch…but basically that was as far as my source even knew. So I still have no idea what the system is like and still am reading sites like this to try and guess.
We’ll have to see what happens over the next several months. Hopefully by the end of the year we’ll have a clearer idea about which games will end up on NX.

Axiom Verge heading to Wii U later this year
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 24 Comments
Axiom Verge is making its way to Wii U, creator Tom Happ has announced. A release is planned on the eShop later this year.
Here’s a brief overview of the game:
Axiom Verge is a retro-style action-platform-exploration game done in a 16-bit style and was heavily influenced by games like Metroid, Contra, Blaster Master, and other classics, but with very modern design sensibilities. It also gives you power over glitches like those found in classic games, allowing you to scramble enemies, corrupt environments, and enter hidden areas as you explore this hostile alien world and uncover your role within it.
Axiom Verge features more than 40 weapons and tools, close to 100 upgrades, over 80 creatures, nearly 1,000 rooms, and six supported languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.
Happ suggested that a Wii U version of Axiom Verge would happen last June. As for 3DS, bringing it to that system would be “more difficult since the hardware is so completely different.”

Axiom Verge “probably” hitting Wii U next year, 3DS more difficult
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, News, Wii U eShop | 2 Comments
Axiom Verge creator Tom Happ has revealed that the title is “probably” making its way to Wii U next year. 3DS, meanwhile, would be “quite a bit more difficult since the hardware is so completely different.”
As stated by Happ:
I can’t commit to anything, but Axiom Verge will *probably* be available for Wii U in 2016. 3DS is quite a bit more difficult since the hardware is so completely different. Should Nintendo be reading this and decide to lend me a hand, that’d be VERY appreciated!!
The major roadblock preventing Axiom Verge on Wii U is all on the technical side. The game was built with the MonoGame engine, which is something that Nintendo’s console doesn’t seem to support currently. Porting Axiom Verge to C++ was one option in bringing Axiom Verge to Wii U.

Nintendo has expressed interest in Axiom Verge
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 8 Comments
Nintendo has expressed interest in having Axiom Verge on its platforms. That’s according to Dan Adelman, who is handling business and PR for the title.
When asked by Game Informer if Nintendo has reached out positively or negatively regarding Axiom Verge’s Metroid Influence, Adelman said:
They’ve been nothing but great. They’ve been congratulatory. I’m going to go out to lunch with a couple of my old coworkers sometime next week. They’d like to have it on a platform, so that’s something we want to work towards.
The Axiom Verge developer is definitely interested in making a Wii U version happen. Adelman said in March that they “would love to bring it to Nintendo platforms at some point and we’re looking at ways we might want to do that.” The main issue that needs to be overcome is Wii U’s incompatibility with the MonoGame development software, which is what Axiom Verge was created with. There are two options at the moment to make it happen: either Wii U needs MonoGame support, or the game will need to be redone in C++.

Axiom Verge not on Wii U because of console’s incompatibility with MonoGame, port still in consideration
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 2 Comments
Axiom Verge would seem like the perfect fit on Wii U. The action-adventure game, which launches on PlayStation 4 later this month and other platforms down the line, is a true Metroidvania experience.
The team behind Axiom Verge does have interest in bringing Axiom Verge to Wii U. Dan Adelman, who is handling business and PR for the title, told NintendoWorldReport:
We obviously would love to bring it to Nintendo platforms at some point and we’re looking at ways we might want to do that. Because of some technical reasons and the way the game was designed, it will take a little bit of time to get it ported over, so we’re looking into what that will cost us and how long it will take but that’s something we definitely are considering.
The main issue surrounding a possible Axiom Verge Wii U port is the console’s incompatibility with MonoGame development software. We had heard towards the end of 2013 that the tool was coming to Wii U, but that actually hasn’t happened after all. In order to make a Wii U version of Axiom Verge possible, MonoGame needs to be supported on Wii U, or the title would need to be ported to C++.
