Disney Speedstorm free to play

Gameloft has announced the completion of the Early Access period for Disney Speedstorm, with the game pursuing its original plan for its free-to-play experience on September 28, 2023.

Thus far, the only way to play the racer has been by purchasing the Founder’s Packs. Gameloft has been fielding feedback during the initial launch in hopes of improving the game.

Gameloft shared the following message about Disney Speedstorm’s upcoming free-to-play launch:

Disney Speedstorm Steamboat Mickey

Original (5/22): Gameloft has announced that Steamboat Mickey is joining Disney Speedstorm. The character will be available during Season 2 as part of a limited edition, though further details haven’t been announced.

The upcoming playable character stems from Steamboat Willie, which is said to be the original appearance of Mickey Mouse. This short film came out way back in 1928.

Disney Speedstorm trailer

Gameloft is promoting the launch of Disney Speedstorm with a new trailer. As part of its early access, the racer has just landed on Switch.

Below is an official overview with more information:

Disney Speedstorm Figment

Disney Speedstorm today revealed the latest addition to its roster, with Figment set to be a playable character. This will be available as part of Season 1.

Figment may come as a surprising addition for some as we’ve typically seen representatives from popular movies. For those that are unaware, the purple dragon is the mascot of the “Imagination!” pavilion at the Epcot theme park at Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney Speedstorm CGI

Gameloft is continuing its marketing for Disney Speedstorm, this time showcasing the game with a CGI trailer. The video shows off racers in the title, some of the locations players will visit, and more.

Disney Speedstorm will offer the following:

Disney Speedstorm Founder's Pack

Gameloft has issued a new Disney Speedstorm trailer that shows off the game’s Founders Pack.

Those that opt for this version will receive Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck as racer unlocks, an additional racer unlock of their choice, 4000 Tokens, two Golden Pass Credits, an exclusive Founding Member racing suit/kart livery for Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and the chosen racer, and an exclusive Founder’s motto and avatar.

Disney Speedstorm Regulated Multiplayer mode

Gameloft has shared details about a new Regulated Multiplayer mode planned for Disney Speedstorm.

Those who have had access to closed beta expressed interest in a mode that was all about skill and not about how much racers have been upgraded. Thankfully, this is where Regulated Multiplayer comes in. The mode will be continually developed in the future, but we have some early information.
