Harvest Moon 64

Harvest Moon 64 Switch Online

Over in Japan, it’s been announced that Harvest Moon 64 will be added to Nintendo Switch Online. The game will be offered as part of the Expansion Pack tier.

Nintendo announced a bunch of new N64 games for Nintendo Switch Online today, including the long-awaited return of GoldenEye 007. However, as of now, Harvest Moon has not been announced for the west.

The one piece of good news is that those with a Japanese Nintendo Account will be able to play Harvest Moon 64 on their Switch, though obviously English won’t be included. The game’s release is planned for 2023.

A little while back, Dengeki Online spoke with Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town director Hikaru Nakano and producer Dai Takemura. The possibility of additional remakes was discussed during the discussion.

Switch already has a remake of Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town, which was released as Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town in 2020. Nakano personally expressed interest in bringing back the likes of Harvest Moon 64, Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, and Harvest Moon DS.

When Harvest Moon 64 originally came out many years ago, it came with a bit of a noticeable spelling mistake. On the title screen, Natsume’s name was written as “Natume”.

The error has been back in the news due to the recent release of Harvest Moon 64 on the Wii U Virtual Console. In its latest “State of the Farm” update, Natsume thought it would make sense to explain why it happened in the first place.

Natsume wrote:

“With the recent release of Harvest Moon 64 on the Wii U Virtual Console in both North America and Europe, let’s answer that one important question everyone has been talking about for 17 years: What’s up with the spelling of ‘Natume’ on the title screen in Harvest Moon 64?!
