Game Informer has revealed Cetrion as the latest character in Mortal Kombat 11. She’ll be fully detailed in the magazine’s newest issue, which releases today.
Game Informer did release a video that briefly shows off Cetrion. A tiny bit of footage is shown 16 seconds into the video below.

Game Informer has revealed that its cover story for May 2019 is Mortal Kombat 11. You can see what the design looks like above.
For the new issue, Game Informer “played a near-final build of the game and talked to its developers to learn how Mortal Kombat has maintained such a massive audience, and how this entry hopes to take things even further.” The magazine pulls back the curtain on a new character and has 14 pages of coverage.
Mortal Kombat 11 targeting 60 frames per second on Switch

Mortal Kombat 11 is playable on Switch at PAX East 2019 this weekend. The only downside? No one has been allowed to record footage.
No one seems to have answer as to why video recording is prohibited. By all accounts, those who have gone hands-on with the game say that the Switch version is shaping up well. The frame rate is apparently solid and stacks up to footage we’ve seen on other consoles previously. And speaking of the frame rate, the team says it’s targeting 60 FPS on Switch.
Mortal Kombat 11 has less than a month to go until launch, with its release scheduled for April 23.

Shang Tsung coming to Mortal Kombat 11 as first DLC character

Warner Bros. Interactive and NetherRealm Studios have prepared another reveal for Mortal Kombat 11. Shang Tsung, who has appeared in the series since the beginning, will be available as the game’s first DLC character.

Fun fact: Shang Tsung is voiced by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, who played the character in the Mortal Kombat film.

Mortal Kombat 11 built with a custom version of Unreal Engine 3

These days, when when you think of Unreal Engine games, Unreal Engine 4 comes to mind. However, that isn’t the case with Mortal Kombat 11.
According to NetherRealm Studios graphics programming lead Jon Greenberg, Mortal Kombat 11 is built on a custom version of Unreal Engine 3. Greenberg added that the company’s version of the tech “is radically different from Epic’s at this point.”
Switch works well with Unreal Engine 4, but it isn’t often that we seen Unreal Engine 3-developed titles on the system. Rocket League is one example of this, which required custom work to make possible.
