Bandai Namco bringing One Piece: Great Pirate Colosseum to Japan on September 21st

Amazon Japan and Rakuten have revealed that One Piece: Great Pirate Colosseum will release for 3DS on September 21st in Japan. The 2D action title is being developed by Arc System Works (published by Bandai Namco) and will feature 23 playable characters and over 80 additional assist characters, while also boasting strong visuals and simple, but exciting, controls. It will feature a mode where the player sails around the world, gathering their favorite crew, as well as a competitive online mode. Furthermore, first-print buyers will earn several rewards, including early unlocks for assist characters Edward Newgate, Marco, and Jozu, an in-game item for use in the “Create a Pirate Crew” mode, and a unique 3DS theme (via download code). There is also an unannounced item as a pre-order bonus from Amazon Japan.

A scan from this month’s issue of V Jump, which first appeared last week, outed the existence of One Piece: Great Pirate Colosseum for 3DS. ShonenGamez has now put up the scan in full with a complete translation. You can get a look at it above.

One Piece: Great Pirate Colosseum is in development for 3DS, according to the latest issue of Jump.
Specifics on the game are mostly unknown at the moment. It’s confirmed to be a 2D battle action game, and features a mode where you sail around the world and build a team of your favorite pirates. By defeating rivals, your prize money will steadily increase. Combos and simple controls are also included.
There’s no word yet as to when One Piece: Great Pirate Colosseum will be available.
