Saboteur SiO

The stealth action adventure game Saboteur released in 1985. It was followed up with the sequel Saboteur II: Avenging Angel a couple of years later, but the series then went on hiatus. Now more than three decades later, a sequel titled Saboteur SiO is heading to Switch.

Saboteur SiO comes from SimFabric and original creator Clive Townsend. It’s a throwback to the original games with a similar look and gameplay.

Here’s a proper overview of Saboteur SiO, along with a trailer:

The psychological horror game Lust for Darkness appeared on the Switch eShop last July. It didn’t stay there for too long, as controversial elements resulted in a post-release Adults Only rating from the ESRB. In the end, the game was pulled.

Many months later, Lust for Darkness is returning on Switch as “Dawn Edition”. SimFabric has gone back to the drawing board by “tweaking a controversial content and reworking the most contentious assets”.

Here’s the full announcement:

SimFabric is teaming up with developer Star Drifters to bring Driftland: The Magic Revival to Switch. The 4X strategy and god simulation game will be out on Nintendo’s platform in Q1 2020.

In putting the Driftland experience on consoles, the cursor from the PC version will be swapped out with an active, contextual field in the middle of the screen. This will provide players with the ability to cast spells and construct buildings.

Yesterday, the ZX Spectrum game Saboteur II: Avenging Angel was added to the Switch eShop. Take a look at some footage below.

Even though Switch lacks a Virtual Console, we’ve seen many classic games from a variety of systems on the platform. NES, NeoGeo, SEGA Genesis, and releases from the arcade are among what has landed on Nintendo’s console – and we’re not even a full two years in yet.

Now thanks to SimFabric, Switch is about to receive a game from the ZX Spectrum computer. Nintendo’s website lists Saboteur! for November 9.
