Splatoon 3 world map

Nintendo has shared an official image that provides a look at the Splatoon world map, which shows just how far away Splatsville in Splatoon 3 is compared to the settings of the previous two titles.

The image was posted today as part of an interview with the game’s developers. Series producer Hisashi Nogami, director / art director Seita Inoue, director Shintaro Sato, and head of sound Toru Minegishi participated in the discussion.

Inoue noted that “Inkopolis Plaza in the first title and Inkopolis Square in the second title are both located in the heart of the city, and they are only about as far apart as Shibuya Station and Harajuku Station on the train in Tokyo.” Splatsville, which is where Splatoon 3 takes place, is set further away to allow for some distance “with a completely different climate.”

Splatoon 3 reviews

With Splatoon 3 set for release in just a few days, reviews for the Switch exclusive are starting to come online. Nintendo lifted the embargo just a few moments ago.

Splatoon 3 builds on the shooting gameplay of its predecessors. This time around, the sun-scorched desert of Splatlands is featured. There are new moves available to dodge attacks and cover more ground, plus a new bow-shaped weapon to sling ink and new special weapons, such as the scuttling Crab Tank. Turf War, Salmon Run, and the Story Mode featuring the “Return of the Mammalians” campaign are the main modes. Splatfests are back, but now feature Tricolor Turf War – a mode where three teams compete at the same time and the first-place team must defend themselves in a unique 4-v-2-v-2 battle.

Here’s the roundup of reviews for Splatoon 3:

Splatoon 3 releases on Switch at the end of this week, and Nintendo have shared another new music track. Titled “Tentacle to the Metal”, this is the second single from Damp Socks feat. Off the Hook, following the earlier released “Candy Coated Rocks”.

Nintendo describes the track as “Inspired by thrilling car chases, the way the vocals intertwine with the rolling beat make it a great tune to listen to whilst swimming through ink!”

Here’s a quick refresher on Splatoon 3:

Splatoon 3 Salmon Run

The Salmon Run mode in Splatoon 3 will be available at all days and all times, Nintendo has confirmed.

This is noteworthy as things were handled differently in Splatoon 2. With that game, Salmon Run was restricted since it couldn’t always be played online. In fact, it wasn’t actually playable every day. Nintendo confirming that Salmon Run will always be open in Splatoon 3 is therefore a pretty big deal.

The trailer introduces us to core elements of the game like the weapons and stages. Other aspects are covered including the different modes like single-player and Salmon Run.

Splatoon 3: Splatfest World Premiere results

Nintendo has shared the final results of the Splatoon 3: Splatfest World Premiere.

During the weekend, players were given an opportunity to try out the Switch exclusive ahead of next month’s launch. They could side with rock, paper, or scissors – three teams instead of the usual two that we’ve previously seen from the series. Fans were also treated to the debut of new Tricolor Turf War battles.

Splatoon 3 is the next big Switch game from Nintendo and is just a couple of weeks away. Most have likely made a decision as to whether they’ll be picking it up in September. However, there is also the Splatfest demo happening right now that gives players a bit of a preview of what they can expect from the final game.

Some have argued that Splatoon 3 doesn’t feel new enough, but many fans are very happy with how it’s been looking. What side of the fence do you sit on? Are you planning on buying Splatoon 3 next month? Let us know in the comments.

Splatoon 3 pre-order bonus

With Splatoon 3 set to arrive on Switch soon, now’s as good a time as any for us to publish our pre-order guide the game, which will contain information about many major retailer reservations as well as any bonuses that are announced.

As the name implies, Splatoon 3 is the third major entry in the series and the second title on Switch. Many elements are returning like Turf War and Salmon Run, though there’ll be new stages and bosses. Also, an entirely new story mode is planned where players can discover the secrets of Alterna, the Fuzzy Ooze, and how they connect to the mode’s theme, “Return of the Mammalians”.
