Square Enix reconsidering JRPG approach following Bravely Default’s success – will come out with more “heavy JRPGs”

Bravely Default has been a strong success for Square Enix, which may be a bit surprising given that its a brand new kind of JRPG. It sold well not only in Japan, but the west as well.
Thanks to Bravely Default’s reception, it sounds like Square Enix is reconsidering its approach to the genre. Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda said in a recent interview that the company will now be putting its efforts into “heavy JRPGs” so that the company “can better focus on our target, which will also bring better results.”
Masuda told Nikkei Trendy the following when asked if Square Enix have any global titles for smartphones in its upcoming lineup:
Dragon Quest X has sold over one million copies

Square Enix’s Yosuke Saito took to Twitter earlier today and announced an impressive sales figure for Dragon Quest X. Since launch, the game has sold over one million copies in Japan, the producer confirmed. That number should account for all platforms – Wii U, Wii, PC, and Android.

– Latest characters featured: Princess Sarah (Final Fantasy I), Minwu (Final Fantasy II), Cid (Final Fantasy III), Kain (Final Fantasy IV), Edge (Final Fantasy IV), Lenna (Final Fantasy V), Galuf (Final Fantasy V), Locke (Final Fantasy VI), Edgar (Final Fantasy VI), Aerith (Final Fantasy VII), Barret (Final Fantasy VII)
– Once again, Knights of the Round can be summoned in battle
– Can cast a summon that has been set to your party leader while advancing through Battle Music Stages
– Pull off a summon to deal massive damage to enemies
– Chocobos can be summoned as well
– “Collectacard Crystalium”: earn cards by clearing songs and participating in versus battles
– Use these cards to power up your characters
– The rarer the cards, the more status upgrades it will provide
– Up to 8 cards per character can be set
– The upgrade will be based on probability

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call will have Romancing SaGa DLC

Square Enix has announced Romancing SaGa DLC for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call. Romancing SaGa 3’s “Four Demon Nobles Battle 1” (battle music) and Romancing SaGa’s “Horrible Shadow” (field music) will be offered.
It’s currently unclear how much the DLC will cost. Square Enix has also yet to say when exactly these extra songs will be made available.
