Devil’s Third creator Tomonobu Itagaki shared an update about the Wii U game over on his Facebook page yesterday.

Itagaki noted that development is progressing well. The team just finished editing the closing movie recently.

Itagaki also hyped the scale of the story mode in Devil’s Third, which “is greater than that of Ninja Gaiden.” He also feels that the project “demolishes the standard of past console games in online multiplayer.”

This week’s issue of Famitsu has an interview with Devil’s Third creator Tomonobu Itagaki.

To start off, Itagaki spoke about Nintendo. He believes that the company loves games more than anyone and they love to play. Itagaki feels that working with Nintendo on Devil’s Third is a huge opportunity.

On the topic of Devil’s Third using special elements on Wii U, Itagaki teased:

“It is our policy to make full use of the hardware’s characteristics. I’m currently thinking along the lines of having something other than having you press down on the Wii U GamePad, and something that will make you say, ‘Oh, I see!’”

Devil’s Third may not be the traditional kind of game that we’re used to seeing on Nintendo platforms – not to mention the type of game that Nintendo typically publishes – but creator Tomonobu Itagaki isn’t worried that his game won’t find an audience on Wii U.

Speaking with Canada.com, Itagaki mentioned that he’s already seen comments from fans stating that they’ll purchase a Wii U just to play Devil’s Third, and he believes that “gamers are the ones who make the future.”

Valhalla Game Studios is using Unreal Engine 3 to create Devil’s Third. That’s according to an official post on the Unreal Engine blog, which lists the Wii U title.

Devil’s Third was re-announced at this year’s E3 after several years of silence. A release date hasn’t been determined at this time.
