In the last part, I took a look at various Nintendo series of games and worked out based on Metacritic scores what the best five franchises were. This time we’re going to take a look at the absolute worst series.

My way of categorizing games seemed to confuse a few people so I’ll start this second and final part by clarifying a few things. I used Super Smash Bros.’ way of categorizing series as a basis, attributing each game to a specific character. While some games feature more than one character (like Mario vs. Donkey Kong) or some don’t play like other games in their series at all (Super Princess Peach), they all share similar attributes and take place in the same universe, so I’d classify all of them as “Mario” games. The Mario series in particular is so massive that I had to include some spin-offs like Mario Kart or Mario Party as separate franchises. I’m probably boring a lot of people, so anyone who wants to know more specifics, just read the rules I outlined in the last part.

– Shulk, Fiorung, Dunban not happy with the aerial raid, alarm sounds in town, soldiers note that the alarm is different this time
– Mechanical creatures fall into the town, attack citizens who flee, Shulk/Fiorung/Dunban fight them
– Second part of the trailer features Shulk who says Monado can cut through Kishin armored troops, shot of a different character who can’t control the sword, Shulk not sure if the secrets behind Monado can be understood
– Third scene: Dunban can’t control Monado, companion says he shouldn’t use it anymore, Shulk grabs Monado and charges troops, Dunban surprised that Shulk can use the sword, Shulk says he can see a little into the future with the sword, Dunban not sure if that’s Monado’s hidden power
– Female soldier says “Amazing! This is your power!?” as he performs moves, Shulk says in response: “It’s not me. It’s Monado that is showing it”
– Dialogue parts at the end: A character says the sword probably has more powers, other character wants to have Monado to achieve something

New Xenoblade trailer

Apologies for the low-quality of the trailer. I’m assuming it was taken directly off the Nintendo Channel, so when Nintendo uploads the video to the official site, it should be in higher-quality.

Famitsu review scores

Posted on 15 years ago by (@NE_Brian) in DS, News | 4 Comments

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (PSP) – 10/10/10/10
Katekyoo Hitman Reborn! DS Fate of Heat III – Yuki no Shugomono Raishuu! (DS) – 6/6/6/5
Super Street Fighter IV (PS3/Xbox 360) – 9/9/9/8
Splinter Cell: Conviction (360) -8/9/8/8
Rooms (DS) – 7/7/7/8

The DS has sold incredibly well in Japan since it was released in 2004. That doesn’t mean that gamers are necessarily anticipating Nintendo’s next handheld, however.

1,059 people provided some responses in a goo Research poll and more than 42% of them said that they have purchased a DS. But when 702 of the participants were asked about the 3DS, only 8.8 percent indicated that they “want to buy” it. 55.8 percent, while interested in the system, stated that they do not plan on purchasing it for now and the remaining 35.3 percent just aren’t interested in the system at all.

What about you guys? Are you waiting to hear more about the 3DS before you really consider picking up the handheld? Or are you already convinced that you’ll be buying it when it comes out?

Robox screenshots, details

Posted on 15 years ago by (@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 2 Comments

– 4 big, connected ‘worlds’, Metroid-like. Some puzzles, exploration.
– 3 main stages to progress into the story: forest, cave and jelly
– Gameplay depends on the stage: more shooting, more platforming, etc.
– The fourth one takes place inside the robot and you won’t control him. Find the other creatures (see them on the screenshots) and use them. Each one has different abilities and you need them to unlock every path inside the robot.
– Following one path or another, Robox habilities will evolve in different ways (not yet revealed)
– NES style controls: jump, shoot and use abilities (8 in total).
– Wiimote movements to do other things. Jump and move downwards to squash.
– Many checkpoints because the game is actually hard. Your live bar can take 3 shots.
– 6 hours without exploration and evolution, but this game is deep.
– Development is almost completed. Testing stage.
