Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo cancelled

Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo will no longer be happening due to “persistent threats” made against employees as well as participants.

Nintendo Live was once again set to take place in Japan in January. The event would have offered the same sort of standard activities we’ve seen over the past few years, including tournaments and concerts. Unfortunately, the plug has been pulled entirely.

Smash Bros. Ultimate fifth anniversary

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate events have been on reruns for a significant period of time now, but believe it or not, the game is seeing a slight revitalization for its fifth anniversary. In a new event, players will be able to earn 5x EXP and SP after fights. Five additional Snack Ls are being given out as well.

The Smash Bros. Ultimate fifth anniversary event begins tomorrow, December 7 (December 8 in Europe). It will last for five days in total.

Devil Engine Complete Edition physical

Limited Run Games is working on a physical release of Devil Engine: Complete Edition for Switch, the company announced today.

You may remember that Devil Engine technically already launched on Switch in 2019. However, it then reshipped as a new “Complete Edition” last month. A physical edition also came to Japan, though this is the first time it’ll have a boxed copy elsewhere.

Vampire Survivors Among Us DLC

Among Us is joining Vampire Survivors with brand new DLC, Poncle just announced.

The DLC is comprised of crewmates, weapons, power-ups, and a stage inspired by the Impostor-hunting hit. There’ll be “classic Vampire Survivors gameplay with new weapons, characters, music, some surprises and new mechanics all wrapped up in Among Us inspired chaos.” All told players will gain access to 9 characters, 15 weapons, 1 stage, 20 in-game unlocks, the ability to see the future, and an Adventure.

Bugaboo Pocket

Today, Elytra Games announced that its upcoming title Bugaboo Pocket will be launching on Switch in the future. It’s currently targeting a 2024 release.

Elytra Games is a virtual pet game, but there’s more to it than that. There’ll apparently be a story that plays a key role and features like currency that can be earned in minigames and by cleaning up the pet waste.

Here’s some additional information:

Eastward Octopia release date

Today, Chucklefish and Pixpil revealed the final release date for Eastward: Octopia, the game’s upcoming DLC expansion. It’ll be ready to go on January 31, 2024.

Open Roads

Open Roads, which was first announced three years ago, has now been confirmed for Switch. We also have a final release date of February 22, 2024.

Open Roads is a road trip adventure game. It’s being made by the same folks as Gone Home, though Fullbright co-founder Steve Gaynor is no longer involved and the group is now known as “The Open Roads Team”.
