Mario popularity

When you think about games and the most popular characters in the medium, Mario has to be there as one of the top choices. He’s been around for decades, in multiple titles and genres – and now he’s even getting his own animated movie.

So what’s been behind Mario’s long-term popularity? Shigeru Miyamoto, the character’s creator, recently shared some thoughts.

In an interview with NPR, Shigeru Miyamoto was asked about what Nintendo will be like when he’s gone. But in his view, he doesn’t think much will change.

Miyamoto explained to the outlet that many people within the company – including those who work on Mario games – “all have this sense of what it means to be Nintendo.” He also pointed out how many new ideas often have the essence of Nintendo.

Pokemon Scarlet Violet DLC returning Pokemon leak

Thanks to a datamine, the near-complete list of returning Pokemon for the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet DLC has apparently been revealed.

Version 1.2.0 dropped for both games today. Twitter user mattyoukhana_ discovered that instead of stubbing them, Game Freak deleted Pokedex entries for a ton of Pokemon. That’s what gives us the lineup of returning creatures. Some fans may recall that something similar happened with the DLC for Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Here’s the full list:

The Switch rumor mill is on fire again, as a leaker has come forward claiming that a new model will be released alongside the second DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet – otherwise known as The Indigo Disk.

That information stems from a 4chan user – which we would normally dismiss – but this person seems to have at least some insider knowledge. A post was made to the site last Friday, a few days before the new Pokemon Presents aired with the DLC reveal. This user, who says he’s a programmer working for an outsourcing company, ended up getting just about everything correct between rough names of the DLC, new Pokemon, and more.

Pokemon Scarlet Violet Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti

Three more Pokemon have just been revealed for the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC, with The Pokemon Company showing off Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti. These creatures “are beloved by the people of the village as heroes that protected the land of Kitakami in the past, and stone statues were made in their likeness to express the people’s gratitude.”

The DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet kicks off with The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk. As we previously detailed, The Teal Mask sends you off on a school trip to the land of Kitakami, where a great mountain towers over the land and the people live at its base. The Pokemon Company has teased that you’ll “meet new friends and Pokémon as they unravel the mysteries behind the folktales that have been passed down in this land.” Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti will all be appearing in The Teal Mask, but we don’t have any other specifics.

Here’s a closer look at Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti:
