Three games will be discounted on the Japanese 3DS eShop right after we ring in the new year. The “Denpa” Men 2 will be discounted from 1,000 yen to 700 yen, HarmoKnight will be dropped from 1,800 yen to 1,300 yen, and 3D Classics: Kirby’s Adventure will be temporarily slashed from 600 yen to 400 yen.

All three titles are seeing discounts as part of a holiday sale on the eShop. The offers will be available starting on January 1 at 10 AM and lasts through January 6 at 23:59 PM.

Super Mario Bros. 3 will be hitting the Japanese eShop as a Famicom download on January 1 for 500 yen. Screenshots of the game can be found above.

The Wii U and 3DS eShops are completely different entities. Although both stores contain content that relates to each other, they aren’t linked in any way.

Users can’t look up shared history between the two systems. It’s also impossible to, say, buy a 3DS game through the Wii U eShop. And that’s how it’ll be for the foreseeable future.

Nintendo of America’s Dan Adelman was recently asked about the possibility of linking the two eShops, but there are no plans for now.

“Well we’re calling them both eShop. It’s just that one is the 3DS eShop, and the other is the Wii U eShop. Wii U users can see info in the Wii U eShop about 3DS games, but right now we don’t have any immediate plans to sell 3DS games via the Wii U eShop – or vice versa.”

Selectsoft will publish “101 DinoPets 3D” on the 3DS eShop early next month.

As the name implies, players can interact over 101 dino friends. You can teach your “pet” how to dance, jump and fly. It’s also possible to enter pet shows to earn toys, food and furniture. If that wasn’t enough, the dinosaur can be dressed with hats and glasses. The game includes several mini-games involving the vet, bathing, and more.

101 DinoPets 3D launches on January 10 for $4.99.

Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham shared updates on the studio’s slate of upcoming titles in a new video. Watsham discussed Mutant Mudds Deluxe, ATV Wild Ride 3D, and a secret Wii U game.

Japan has been getting classic Mega Man 3DS eShop titles on a regular basis. That hasn’t been the same in North America, but Capcom finally confirmed that the NES title will arrive starting on December 27 and throughout 2013.

Capcom senior community manager Brett Elston was recently about the hurdles in releasing the Mega Man games on the North American eShop. Ultimately, the delay came about since Capcom wanted to have the retro titles lined up for Mega Man’s 25th anniversary.

“Now that we’ve announced the release date of these titles (starting with MM1 on 12/27), we’ll come clean and say most of those ‘hurdles’ were getting everything lined up for the anniversary period. We wanted to have MM1 arrive as close to 12/17 as possible, which required close coordination with Nintendo.”

Elston also commented on whether he believes Mega Man could still find a home at retail. He noted that it is “entirely possible we’ll find an idea or concept that warrants a full disc release, but for the immediate future, digital feels like the right way to experience Mega Man.”

What form it takes, and which platform(s) it appears on, would need to suit the game and the intended audience.
