General Nintendo

Most of Capcom’s game announcements and updates came from this month’s Captivate event. But apparently the company has one more title to reveal.

Famitsu has posted a preview of their issue next week, and it says they will cover Capcom’s upcoming lineup, including an unexpected title.

No word on what the mystery game is. It’s also unknown which platforms the project is in development for.

Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai wants you to watch today’s Japanese Nintendo Direct broadcast. That’s because there will be some sort of news for Kid Icarus: Uprising. And yes, people are still speculating that there will be something Kirby-related on the show. I personally wouldn’t count on it, but you never know…

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy developer head Masanobu Suzui has also advised his Twitter followers to watch the live-stream.

Thanks to 4Him for the tip.

Update: Some clarification from Nintendo of America’s Facebook.

The following message was posted:

“Wondering how you’ll understand tonight’s Nintendo Direct since it’s all in Japanese? Don’t worry, we’ll be sharing North American related announcements (in English). Check back here and on our @NintendoAmerica Twitter around 8:30 PM PT to get all the news.”

So… it sounds like there will be announcements for North America. Or news. Or something. Point is, there will be something for North American Nintendo fans. Whether they share this news in the form of a Nintendo Direct video remains to be seen.

Original post:

It seems as though North America will be getting its own Nintendo Direct later tonight. At the very minimum, there will definitely be “some news” from Nintendo of America.

The company will be sharing updates beginning at 8:30 PM PST / 11:30 PM EST.

Nintendo of America tweeted just moments ago:

“We’ve got some news to share 2nite around 8:30pm PT. Be sure to check back to get the latest!”

The World Ends with You is one of the most critically-acclaimed DS games. Square Enix’s Tetsuya Nomura has hinted that the series could return one day on a number of different different occasions, and with character cameo appearances in Kingdom Hearts 3D, the possibility of a new game is stronger than ever before.

Nomura added more fuel to the fire in an interview with Nintendo Dream. Rhyme, Beat’s younger sister, was given a voice in Kingdom Hearts 3D. In The World Ends with You, the development team only implemented reaction voices. Nomura told the magazine that Kingdom Hearts 3D features voice acting for Rhyme “out of consideration of the future of The World Ends With You series.”

Nomura went on to tease, “Regarding The World Ends with You, I can’t say anything at present… (laughs). But there probably is something.”

Bring on The World Ends with You for 3DS (please)!

Square Enix has filed a new European trademark for “A Realm Reborn”. There’s some speculation that the name could be used as a subtitle for Dragon Quest X, but that has not been confirmed.

We do have one clue from the trademark. Square Enix’s Japanese division registered the name, which means the filing pertains to a Japanese IP.

Japanese 3DS owners are finding the above note from Nintendo president Satoru Iwata in their Swapnote applications today. Iwata is holding a Kirby plushie in the photo. Some people are speculating that there will be a Kirby announcement on the show, but I’m not willing to go that far… yet.

Nintendo of Europe will show their own Nintendo Direct presentation tomorrow and it’s being held by an alternate version of Satoru Iwata! Okay… not really, but Nintendo of Europe’s president Satoru Shibata will be hosting.

Highlights from the Japanese Nintendo Direct will be included as well as “announcements and content entirely exclusive to Europe.”

Nintendo of Europe/UK will be live-tweeting updates here and here.

You’ll be able to watch the broadcast on this page at 1 PM CET.

The next Nintendo Direct will be taking place this Saturday. In North America, the broadcoast will be shown on April 20 at 11 PM EST / 8 PM PST. These presentations have been a bimonthly affair for Nintendo since October.

Satoru Iwata will be on hand to share the latest information about the 3DS and Wii. Essentially, you can expect footage, trailers, and other material for Japanese games. We’ll probably see the first trailer for Project X Zone and other upcoming releases.

Keep track of the Nintendo Direct page here. It’s currently unclear if Nintendo of America/Europe will be holding their own presentations.

A slew of new trademarks have made it out in Japan. There’s “Voice Forum” and “Step Forum” from Nintendo. And Puyo Puyo Narabe from SEGA. Namco Bandai grabbed a few names, too, such as Universe Accel and Cosmic Drive.

The question is, will any of these filings turn out to be actual products?
