“Oh, that would be incredible, and it’s not impossible. Never say never. George [Lucas] has looked to tell new Star Wars stories through the games and with the entire Star Wars Expanded Universe, and then he has also shown a willingness to let the characters come into the films. Look at Aayla Secura, a creation in the comic books who became part of the theatrical films.” – Haden Blackman, project lead on Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

If there’s one standout quality about The Force Unleashed, it would be the title’s story. I know that a number of people actually thought the story from the game should be featured in a movie. Would you guys pay money to see a Star Wars movie based on The Force Unleashed?

Matthew Pyke, a 20 year-old Advance Wars fanatic, was found dead on Friday. Pyke ran an Advance Wars website under the alias of “Shade.” Police have been investigating the incident and have began to surmise that there is a possibility that another person Pyke had come into contact with through Advance Wars – or other video games – may have attacked him. “A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said officers were investigating his links with other online gamers but stressed it was just one of a number of leads being pursued.”

1 Wii Sports
2 Braid
3 Halo 3
4 Fallout 3
5 Rock Band

Wii Sports is an innovative game, but I definitely would not label it as the best game ever. I can think of copious titles that have revolutionized the gaming industry or are classics.

“Since we got into the next-gen console era, everyone is saying that Japanese games are lagging behind Western games and don’t fit the Western taste anymore. However, despite all these gloomy predictions, everyone (including me) is waiting for TGS and is expecting Japanese publishers to be announcing some pearls that only they can make. To all the Japanese game lovers who will make the trip to Japan for TGS, Marvelous has prepared a really nice line-up for you. Besides, we will have big announcement (something that hasn’t even been announced in the Japan press yet) that will involve a charismatic Japanese creator on the first day of TGS!!! So, stay tuned.” – Marvelous TGS blog

Sakurai? Suda? How about Miyamoto? Anyone have a guess of their own? Keep in mind that this could end up as a non-Nintendo announcement.

“Now that the Prime trilogy was up, it felt like a good time to be looking around, and this is an opportunity to branch out more and reach a lot more people with the types of games we like to make. Plus, the venture is one that really fits with our thinking about how games should move forward.” – Jack Matthews

Retro Studios is going to miss out on the talent of the men who moved on to Armature. In a way, however, we’ll kind of get two experience games from two Retro Studios companies. Of course, there’s the original Retro Studios, and then there’s Armature. As we know, three previous Retro Studios staff members have moved on to the new company and were actually some of the most important people at Retro.

“Although some of these games may slip beyond Christmas, as far as we know just now Wii gamers can look forward to the likes of Animal Crossing: City Folk, Guitar Hero: World Tour, Star Wars The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels, Wii Music, WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2009, Sonic Unleashed, Shaun White Snowboarding, Call Of Duty 5, Tomb Raider Underworld, MySims Kingdom, Dead Rising, Skate It, Rayman Raving Rabbids 3 and maybe a few other surprises that some big developers may still have up their sleeve (wink, wink).”

Nintendo’s conference – actually, two events – are scheduled to happen on October 2nd. Last year, Nintendo had some humungous announcements, although the North American conference was arguably not as big. However, I think that there could definitely be something in the pipeline…Perhaps not for this year, but early next year. Pikmin footage and release date, anyone? Or, how about if Reggie were to come bursting out onto a stage in a Link costume with a sword and shield?

A new Metal Gear Solid has been discovered from the Japanese Trademark database, “Metal Gear Solid Existence.” Of course, this trademark could be nothing at all. It might not be a game, it might not be a new game, and even if it is, it could easily be non-related to Nintendo platforms. Still, one can’t help but wonder that if this is a new Metal Gear Solid Game, would there be any chance of it being for the Wii or DS?

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Kirby™, the loveable, powerful, spherical pink Nintendo character, is making a comeback in a big way. Today thousands of pink, lighter-than-air mini-Kirby clouds took flight in the skies above four U.S. cities with neighborhoods that share the Kirby name. This celestial festival celebrates the Sept. 22 launch of Kirby’s game for Nintendo DS™, Kirby Super Star™ Ultra.

“We brought Kirby back in way that helped our ‘super tuff pink puff’ literally take off,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “To date, more than 20 million Kirby games have sold worldwide, making Kirby one of our most popular characters. Kirby Super Star Ultra is a game that will please both veteran and new gamers alike.”

Residents of Kirby-named neighborhoods across the country might have noticed legions of Kirby characters floating through their skies today. These Flogos, as they are called, are creations made from environmentally friendly soapy bubbles and lighter-than-air gas. Kirby images floated over:

* Norwood Park next to Kirby Middle School in Birmingham, Ala.
* The historic Kirby’s Mill in Medford, N.J.
* The Kirby Gate shopping center in Memphis, Tenn.
* Kirby Park in Kingston, Penn.

“We gave our one-of-a-kind creations a special look for this special Nintendo character by adding coloring to our bubble mixture for the first time ever,” said Greg Stanhope, Director of Sales for Flogos. “Kirby deserved a uniquely creative event.”

Nintendo was hyping up another hosted event just a few days ago. There was a whole barrage of speculation, but yes: Blowing bubbles was the main attraction at Nintendo’s event. As was partially expected, Nintendo promoted Kirby Super Star Ultra for the Nintendo DS. However, a bunch of Kirby bubbles were blown and sent up in the sky. So no – There was no Kirby Wii announcement or any Kirby revelation at all, but hey…The Kirby bubbles are kind of nice.
