Proof of concept video shows GameCube games running on Wii U

It isn’t possible to play GameCube games on the Wii U through traditional means. The console itself is incapable of playing such titles due to the way it was built, but one hacker has managed to bypass limitations.
While only a proof of concept for now, the video above shows the potential of playing Wii games on a Wii U. vWii was used to launch a backup, and a USB controller is used to control the game.

Harmonix will return to Rock Band “at the right point in time”

Harmonix isn’t done with Rock Band. CEO Alex Rigopulos told VentureBeat that the company will revisit the IP “at the right point in time”. When it returns, Harmonix will “reimagine it as appropriate for its time.”
Rigopulos said:
“…I’ll also say that we don’t view Rock Band as something that’s being left behind. It’s something we’ll return to at the right point in time and reimagine it as appropriate for its time.”
Rock Band 3 was the last “major” Rock Band game. That came out in 2010. It was followed up by the digital Rock Band Blitz spinoff.

Ubisoft a bit nervous about next week’s Watch_Dogs showing at E3
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
Watch_Dogs is gearing up for a big showing next week. It will no doubt be one of the highlights at Ubisoft’s E3 2013 press conference.
The open-world game already made its debut at last year’s expo and has appeared at events since then, but that hasn’t stopped the team from being slightly apprehensive when it comes to Watch_Dogs’ next unveiling.
Senior producer Dominic Guay told MCV that the developers are still in the nervous mindset since the public’s reaction can’t be determined beforehand. The staffers at Ubisoft also “have many more aspects of Watch Dogs to present, many core features that have yet to be demonstrated.”
“Everyone in the team is aware of the rare opportunity we have with Watch Dogs and wants to make sure that we deliver on the game’s promises. As we are approaching the last months of our production, E3 is overlapping many other on-going priorities. Last year, we were nervous to show our creation to the world, which is a normal reaction to unveiling something that has been in the works for many years. You never know what the reaction will be. Well, I would say we are still in that mind-set. We have many more aspects of Watch Dogs to present, many core features that have yet to be demonstrated. We take nothing for granted and push as hard as we can.”
