Nicalis cancels La-Mulana WiiWare publishing plans in North America/Europe
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 0 comments
La-Mulana will not be released on the North American and European Wii Shop Channels. That’s according to Nicalis, who shared the news on its Twitter account.
The studio said:
“Regarding La-Mulana, we have chosen to cancel publishing in North America and Europe for WiiWare. …We’ve waited, too. We’re sorry to have to announce, but we’ve waited for them to finish the game for over two years.”
La-Mulana was originally created for the PC in 2005. The WiiWare version was announced nearly three years ago. The game did make it out on the Japanese Wii Shop Channel, but it’s truly a shame North America/European Wii owners won’t be able to experience the game.

Nicalis talks Wii U, Cave Story+
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, DS, News, Wii U | 0 comments
Remember when Nicalis was quoted as saying that Wii U would be Nintendo’s most powerful console and would last five to ten years? As it turns out, that information was taken out of context.
Nicalis CEO Tyrone Rodridugez clarified his comments in a discussion with Destructoid, revealing the true intentions behind his statements.
He told the site:
“Sadly, the original quote was taken a bit out of context. Here’s exactly what I meant: for what we need, and maybe for other developers, the Wii U’s [capabilities] are more than sufficient for five to ten years. We’re not making AAA games or using a crazy insane 3D engine, but the Wii U can definitely do both. With that said, for what we are doing, we could work on the Wii U easily for another five years without making it break a sweat. We don’t do massive productions.”

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Transformed producer hints at more platforms, including Wii U
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii, Wii U | 0 comments
Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Transformed is coming to the 3DS, but not Wii. One would think that this has to mean the game is in development for Wii U.
While SEGA nor Sumo Digital are confirming anything outright, producer Joe Neate has hinted that the title could be released on additional platforms.
When asked if the possibility of a Wii U version has been discussed, Neate said:
“I’m sure there are still discussions ongoing about that at the moment. I think the platforms announced today are the only confirmed ones, but yeah, keep your eyes peeled for potential other platforms I’d imagine.”
Neate wasn’t able to comment on why Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Transformed isn’t in development for Wii, by the way…
3DS VC ratings: Rayman, The Sword of Hope 2, Tumblepop
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 0 comments
Update: One more rating for the road: Tumblepop.
3DS Virtual Console listings continue to pour in from various classification boards.
Today, PEGI has rated Rayman for the service. This must be related to the Game Boy Color version of the title, which was released in 2000.
It looks like we can also expect The Sword of Hope 2 on the eShop soon, as the OFLC has added in an entry for the old Game Boy game.
