There is a Zelda timeline… but Nintendo of Japan doesn’t want you to see it

The Zelda timeline has been a topic of great debate over the years, mostly due to the fact that Nintendo has never shared anything formally. As a result, gamers have been left to discuss the appropriate order of the titles. Fans have created a few theories of their own, though it’s interesting to note that there is an official timeline. The thing is, Nintendo of Japan doesn’t want you to see it.
Nintendo of America’s Dan Owsen revealed in a recent interview that he, along with other staff, developed a timeline and were interested in publishing it online. After approaching the company’s Japanese division, however, they were discouraged from releasing it and were told that there is actually an official timeline. It sounds like Nintendo would like series followers to come up with their own interpretation of the franchise’s chronology.
“You know, at one point we had drafted a timeline and wanted to make it available online. We showed it to the guys in Japan and they basically told us that it would be best if we didn’t post it. They do have a timeline that has continuity between the games but they wanted to keep it open for how each player views the chronology of the series. There are a lot of connections between the games, but they do have a timeline that has continuity. It’s up to the player to place all the pieces together.
I wouldn’t call it a disconnect [with the developers from Japan]. Just that the developers feel that posting a full narrative would take away from the players’ imagination. Part of what makes the series so special is the legend that spans across the series and they wanted to preserve that in the players’ vision. It’s also why they have never given Link a voice. The story is told as if the player is Link. Giving him a voice would eliminate that attachment.”

New Pokemon game reveal may disappoint you
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News | 0 comments
A new Pokemon game has been announced today, most likely through Dengeki Nintendo. The magazine did promise a reveal for their latest issue, which is why it makes sense that they’d have the scoop. The strange thing though is that some outlets are reporting that Dengeki Nintendo actually didn’t reveal anything at all… making things quite confusing.
In any case, the mysterious project is titled “Pokemon Battrio V”. The game involves collecting real life circular Pokemon chips that can be used in battle. New battle chips will be available featuring the Pokemon from Black/White, including Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott. Pokemon Battrio V will be released for arcades only in Japan.
This news will most likely disappoint Wii/3DS owners, though keep in mind that CoroCoro will also be announcing a new Pokemon project next month. Seeing as how that magazine reveals things first, there’s a strong chance that it won’t be related to Pokemon Battrio V. There could also be news in next month’s Dengeki Nintendo if reports claiming that the magazine did not reveal Battrio V are true.

E3 2011 announcement from Nintendo? It wouldn’t be a new reveal, but a new Kirby game is always nice. I’d be happy if we received a localization confirmation!
Dead or Alive: Dimensions won’t launch in Sweden, Norway, Denmark due to pornography laws
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 0 comments
Believe it or not, one simple forum message has led to the cancellation of Dead or Alive: Dimensions in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. The poster was not interested in preventing the game from releasing in these territories, but was instead looking to point out the need to change pornography laws.
So what’s all of the hullabaloo about? Apparently the game can be classified as a violation of Swedish law because three of the female characters are less than 18 years-old and are in a pornographic situation. The characters – Kasumi, Koroke and Ayane – can be photographed in 3D, at any angle through Figure Mode.
Distributor Bergsala and Nintendo of Europe provided the following statement:
“Nintendo of Europe have decided not to release the game in Sweden, for various reasons. However, they do not want to list any details regarding their decision. We are sorry for how this impacts the Swedish fans of Dead or Alive. Thankfully, it’s extremely unusual that these things happen.”
All of this does sound rather silly, and it’s a shame that gamers in these territories won’t be able to experience what is one of the few high-quality releases for the 3DS so far.
