Sequel to the Best-Selling, Award-Winning Game Coming to WiiWare

2nd September 2009, Cambridge, UK. Frontier today revealed LostWinds®: Winter of the Melodias, the follow-up to last year’s best selling, award-winning WiiWare™ launch title LostWinds. This all-new game is packed with intuitive new gameplay mechanics and feels as fresh and compelling as the original.

The power of the wind is once again in the palm of your hand as you wield your Wii Remote™ to use the elemental powers of Enril the Wind Spirit to protect and guide the young boy Toku – power his jumps and glides, suspend and smash new enemies, and explore all-new expanses of the stunningly presented, magical land of Mistralis as you experience Toku and Enril’s new adventure to save Toku’s mother, lift an ancient Curse and thwart the evil Balasar.

Update: Added in the first trailer

A common complaint shared by critics and Wii owners is that too many titles on Nintendo’s console contain unnecessary waggle. A number of developers have simply decided to replace button pressing with overabundant motion controls, which can quickly become tiresome and boring. Daniel Bisson, the creative director for the Wii version of Avatar, is aware of excessive waggle controls that have plagued past Wii titles and is looking to avoid a similar situation. He explained to Nintendo Power:

“I play a lot of Wii games, and too many of them ask you to waggle all the time. We wanted to prevent that as much as possible and to reward players for using the remote in an intelligent way.”
