Nintendo unveils exclusive announcements at WiiWare and Nintendo DSiWare media summit
16 September 2009 – Nintendo of Europe is today holding a summit for media and developers in the heart of London, at which it will exclusively reveal a whole host of new games scheduled for launch on WiiWare and Nintendo DSiWare in the coming months. And who better to show off the games than the creators themselves!
Highlights of the day will include a world-first hands-on experience of LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias developed by Frontier, creators of the original LostWinds for WiiWare in 2008. David Braben from Frontier will be speaking exclusively to media on this new sequel and explaining why he believes the game couldn’t have happened without WiiWare.

David Pellas: The Conduit is Wii’s biggest online game, HVS is satisfied with sales

In an interview with BLPGaming, High Voltage Software’s David Pellas had this to say regarding the standing and sales of The Conduit.
“I can’t provide exact numbers at this time, but we are pleased with the latest reports, especially given the tough economy. We recently received a report that showed that The Conduit is the top online game on the Wii, which is very exciting. We hope to maintain this ranking and look for strong sales to continue through the quarter.” -HVS’ David Pellas
When asked about online patches and hackers, he was a little less optimistic.
“It certainly isn’t out of the question. We are working with our partners in order to address some of the issues that have cropped up but given the fact that Nintendo’s online solution is different from its competitors, we have not been able to reach a satisfactory solution yet.”
Gamers will smile over NOA’s next title that they’re working on

“The games that become localization projects are basically business decisions made after much discussion between NCL and NOA. Those decisions are extremely complicated and involve the input of many departments of both companies — the particulars must remain secret to disorient the very vocal champions of various neglected franchises…As far as what I’m working on now, that’s a secret too, but I’m pretty sure it’ll make you smile.” – Nate Bihldoff, Sr. Localization Manager
Personally, I get the feeling from this quote that the localization team is busy with something that has already been released in Japan. And, you know, a lot of things would make me smile. We’ve been waiting for games like Disaster, Another Code R, and Captain Rainbow (although the chances of that title ending up in North America are slim.) I’m chomping at the bit to find out what’s being worked on. It’d even be interesting if it was, somehow, an unannounced project.
Three new Bit.Trip titles confirmed, Gaijin Games Art Director teases next game, estimated release date for Void

Fans of the Bit.Tip series will be delighted to know that three more titles in their beloved series have been confirmed. Many already knew that there would be six total games, but a recent interview cements that in place and provides a possible release window when asked about Bit.Trip Void.
“If I were to guess, it would be mid-October. We wanted to push that release date back.” -Gaijin Games Art Director, Mike Roush
In addition, Roush teased the content of the newest Bit.Trip title.
“I will not give you a hint, however, it is the game we all wanted to make when we started Gaijin Games. It’s the game we’ve been waiting for… I will give you a hint: it will be based off of an Atari game.”
New Shantae game confirmed for DSi

Update: Here’s a few details from Nintendo Power (thanks Jake!)
– 3 episodic releases
– First one is coming this year
– DSiWare helped get the game approved since no publisher is needed
– Completely original
– Takes advantage of the DS tech.
Remember the exciting new DSiWare title Nintendo Power teased in its most recent issue? Well, it’s pretty safe to say at this point that it’s a new Shantae game. Hidden in Nintendo’s release schedule is Shantae: Risky’s Revenge, from WayForward, coming in Q4. Even better, the title is confirmed for the DSi. We’ll have to wait for details from Nintendo Power to see what the game is all about. However, just knowing that a new Shantae game is on the way brings a smile to my face.
