Dark Samus or phazon could return in the future
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in GameCube, News, Wii | 3 Comments
We’ve been posting a bunch of information from the developer’s voice with the Metroid Prime team, and this is another snippet from that interview…
“Will you ever see Dark Samus or phazon again…Do you want to see Dark Samus or phazon again?” – Michael Kelbaugh, Executive Producer/President & CEO of Retro Studios
“It’s up to the fans.” – Risa Tabata, Assistant Producer
The Dark Samus and phazon story was pretty interesting, but I would like to see the next few Metroid games try something different for now. Still, it would be neat to see either of the two concepts return down the road.

Miyamoto’s “bug head” Samus question led to the visor system in the Metroid Prime series
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 2 Comments
This comes from the developer’s voice interview with the developers of the Metroid Prime series over at Retro…
“Mike Wikan likes to tell a story about Mr. Miyamoto asking us during the early design phases of Prime 1, ‘What would it be like if Samus had a bug’s head?'” – Brian Walker, Senior Producer
“And at the time, I remember going back to our office and saying, ‘Switching heads? What does that have to do with Metroid?'” – Mike Wikan, Senior Designer
“He wasn’t asking if she had the head of a fly…” – Walker
“…He was talking about the mechanic of altered perception as a whole.” – Wikan
“And from that, the visor system came to be, where Samus could see different things with different visors and use that as a puzzle-solving element.” – Walker

Silicon Knights talks Eternal Darkness sequel

“I get that question asked probably about once a week [Eternal Darkness sequel]. You know we love Eternal Darkness. We’re big fans of it. I think the future is bright in that regard, but there’s no comments to make whatsoever.” – Silicon Knights president Denis Dyack
An Eternal Darkness sequel has been discussed for a number of years. I know the sales of the first game weren’t too impressive, but it seems as though Silicon Knights isn’t opposed to creating a second game…I know that I’d be ecstatic if it were to happen.
