Miyamoto can see Retro developing multiple titles simultaneously, studio “is a very high priority” for new potential Metroid

Shigeru Miyamoto sounded off on a number of topics in the latest issue of Official Nintendo Magazine, including one of Nintendo’s most important developers: Retro Studios.
Miyamoto first spoke generally about the company, noting that the team is “very capable” and has the ability to “design a lot of different types of games”. He now feels that Retro “has really come to a point at which it’s possible for it to have multiple lines running at the same time and having different projects in development.”
Miyamoto’s comments in full, as transcribed by Nintendo Insider:
Masuda says new Pokemon Snap would need an original idea or something to make it more appealing

Although Nintendo has only released one Pokemon Snap game, there has certainly been clamoring from fans for a sequel. Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda is also a fan, and sounds open to considering a new entry.
However, Masuda feels that simply bringing out Pokemon Snap “as the same game” – in other words, “how it was before” – wouldn’t be the best idea. He instead feels that a new release would require “a new idea or something that will make it more appealing to players.”
Regarding the possibility of a new Pokemon Snap, Masuda told Polygon:
“Personally, I really love the Pokemon Snap game, but it wouldn’t be interesting if we just released the same game, how it was before, for the Wii U or 3DS. So we have to come up with a new idea or something that will make it more appealing to players. Sometime down the road, we may have something.”
Masuda still not in favor of a mainline Pokemon RPG for Wii U

When asked about a mainline Pokemon game for Wii U in the past, Game Freak director Junichi Masuda hasn’t been open to the possibility. His thinking is that the RPG games are better-suited for handhelds due to the communication aspects.
Unfortunately, not much has changed. Polygon quizzed Masuda once again about a potential Pokemon Wii U game, Masuda said the following:
“The series was built around the idea of trading Pokemon, trading these creatures, and everything we designed about the games was based on that concept. That trading aspect was also to promote communication between people, and really, you need the handheld to be able to go places in real life, meet people, easily trade and battle with them. I think that’s the reason we designed them on the handheld; it’s really important to Pokemon.”

Last month, Bloomberg reported that SEGA made a bid for the company. Japanese financial firm J Trust was also in the running.
Aonuma: Zelda: A Link Between World has “gameplay that never existed on previous Zelda games”
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News, Podcast Stories | 5 Comments
Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma hopes players will be surprised with the series’ newest game, A Link Between Worlds. He’s already teased a change for the main shop. There will also be “gameplay that never existed on previous Zelda games,” as he told ONM this month.
Aonuma said:
“Using the 3D effect on Nintendo 3DS and making the two-dimensional A Link To The Past playable in 3D was kind of an assignment that Mr Miyamoto had given me after the release of Nintendo 3DS. However, I wanted to do more than just that. My main reason for wanting to do it was because this game is perfect for the part where Link turns into a drawing and moves along the walls.”
“The 3D effects are this title’s biggest addition in terms of the hardware’s performance and features. However, we have also introduced gameplay that never existed on previous Zelda games. Players who have become used to the series and who are expecting things to work a certain way will probably be very surprised, so I hope that they look forward to this.”
