Mighty Switch Force! 2 confirmed for Wii U
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Podcast Stories, Wii U eShop | 2 Comments
Nintendo Everything has received confirmation from WayForward that Mighty Switch Force! 2 is coming to Wii U, but “it’s kind of a backburner project right now”. The studio hopes to make an official announcement sometime within the next few weeks.
Mighty Switch Force! 2 originally hit the 3DS eShop in June. PEGI rated a Wii U version just one month later, hinting at a potential release on Nintendo’s home console.
The first Mighty Switch Force!, released in late 2011, was initially a 3DS-only title as well. But for the Wii U’s launch, WayForward created a new version subtitled “Hyper Drive Edition”.
The Wonderful 101 demo releasing today

As was mentioned during today’s European Wonderful 101 Direct (absent from the North American version), Wii U owners will be able to grab a demo for the game starting today. If I’m remembering correctly, this will be the first Wii U demo for a Nintendo-published game.
The demo actually has not been confirmed for North America as of yet. It should be up in Europe within the next 40 minutes.

Nintendo Treehouse on localizing games when it comes to simultaneous launches worldwide
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News, Podcast Stories | 1 Comment
When Nintendo-published games are hitting western territories and Japan at the same time, localization becomes a much-different beast. So how does the Nintendo Treehouse approach these situations?
Localization manager Nate Bihldorff explained to Siliconera:
“We’re in touch with the dev teams from long before formal localization begins, giving feedback on all manner of game elements, and once formal localization starts, we talk every day. As such, we’re constantly asking questions about the plot, background on characters, and even series etymology on enemy and character names. We feel a real responsibility to curate these worlds and preserve the vision of the developers, so I’m sure we get incredibly annoying as we pester them about whether, say, a particular enemy is related to a Moblin or an Octorok.”
Nintendo still selling Wii U at a loss

Nintendo started selling Wii U consoles at a loss when the system launched late last year. Unfortunately for the company, nothing has changed. A Nintendo representative has confirmed that Wii U is still being sold at a loss. That’s one of a few reasons as to why Nintendo is likely tentative to bring about a price drop.

New Details Announced for Other Wii U and Nintendo 3DS Titles
REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Animal Crossing fans are getting a new place on Wii U where they can talk about their towns and share images with players from all over the world. Nintendo announced the free Animal Crossing Plaza application during today’s Nintendo Direct presentation. Nintendo also discussed a variety of other topics about Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games, including the debut of the Pokémon series on Wii U with Pokémon Rumble U and the story behind The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds for Nintendo 3DS.
“The second-half of 2013 is packed with great games and great experiences for Nintendo fans, from new entries in longstanding franchises to software that highlights the many benefits of connecting our hardware to the Internet,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “We’re always on the lookout for new ways that our fans can interact with their favorite game series, and Animal Crossing Plaza extends the fun of the infectious series to Wii U.”

Rumor: Wii U and 3DS to receive shared eShop balance
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, Podcast Stories, Rumors, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
Rumor has it that Wii U and 3DS will soon be receiving a shared eShop balance. It’ll work like this: if you add funds on the Wii U eShop, the total will be carried over to the 3DS store – and vise versa.
Don’t expect to hear anything about this today, though. The rumor, which comes from Emily Rogers, isn’t expected to be covered during the Nintendo Direct presentation in just a couple of hours.
