Rumor has it that Nintendo Software Technology is now in full production of a new title.
NST is also looking for a senior software engineer for WebKit development. A job posting was added to LinkedIn a few days ago.
The studio has created all of the Mario vs. Donkey Kong games, Wave Race: Blue Storm, 1080° Avalanche, and Metroid Prime: Hunters. They also worked on the cancelled Project H.A.M.M.E.R. and Wii Crush.
Rumor: Time Travelers due out in Japan this summer

Time Travelers news has been light since the Level-5 Vision 2011 event last year. Even though there haven’t been many updates about the title, there’s a chance that it will launch in Japan this summer.
Composer Hideki Sakamoto made a tweet about Time Traveler’s recently. He noted that it “is due out in early summer”. Jiro Ishii saw the message, but, as Andriasang reports, only said that he “hopes everyone can hear it soon.”
Is Nintendo Power teasing an Epic Mickey 2 reveal?
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii, Wii U | 0 comments
Although Disney hasn’t confirmed it, numerous pieces of evidence suggest that Epic Mickey 2 is in development. If the speculation is to be believed, Junction Point is preparing the game for the Wii (and possibly Wii U), PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
We might be hearing something official about the game next month. The latest Nintendo Power is making the rounds, and the magazine’s teaser page for their April issue says the following:
“There will be no fooling around when it comes to our April issue. We’ll have the final word of Kid Icarus: Uprising and Xenoblade Chronicles in our full reviews, and get an exclusive whiff of a top-secret title that promises to make your head spin.”
In reference to the “top-secret title”, Nintendo Power included a pair of ears that are apparently very reminiscent of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.
We don’t have an image of the teaser page yet, but we’ll add it into this post once we get our hands on a photo.
Rumor: Nintendo looking into digital distribution partners for Wii U
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
Rumor has it that Nintendo is looking into forming ties with a variety of partners for digital distribution on Wii U. In doing so, it would appear that the company has interest in making the console a media entertainment device that goes far beyond what we saw on Wii – it’d be more like what Microsoft is offering with the Xbox 360.
Adweek claims that the company held discussions with “a select number of top content companies” at CES last month “including multiple cable networks and Web video producers”. Sports, music, television, and other entertainment content would be involved in these plans.
One of Adweek’s sources says that “This is very preliminary. It could go nowhere.”
Meanwhile, Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter has already weighed in on the rumor:
“I don’t know if they have the chops to pull it off. I don’t think game publishers are going to support it (the console).”
Rumor: Nintendo to revive third-parties games for 3DS, Seaman included
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 0 comments
Nikkei published a new report today with regard to Nintendo and third-party titles. Andriasang reports that the company has plans “to revive other publisher’s titles on the 3DS as part of a strategy to bring new strong titles to the system.”
How will Nintendo begin this strategy? By reviving Sea Man of course!
The first Seaman title was released for the Dreamcast. There was a followup for the PlayStation 2, and creator Yoot Saito has hinted at a new Seaman project for 3DS.
We’ll let you know how this rumor develops…
Thanks to 4Him for the tip!
Rumor: Pokemon game announcement this week
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 0 comments
Junichi Masuda is a pretty important dude. He’s been directing the Pokemon RPGs for quite awhile, and obviously has had a big impact on the series. So when Masuda says something about Pokemon, it usually makes sense to pay attention.
Recently, Masuda was asked about the third game in the Black/White generation. He replied by saying that fans should watch Pokemon Smash.
He said:
“Well, there’s no reason to expect me to know that [about a third version] [crowd laughs] but I can’t answer. But…but… I wonder if it’s alright to say this….watch Pokemon Smash…if you want details”
That’s not all. Masuda posted the following to his Twitter account yesterday:
“Don’t forget to watch next week’s Pokemon Smash!!!! For people who can’t watch it, check out my tweets!!!”
Does this mean we can expect a Pokemon game announcement on Sunday…?
Rumor: Dillon’s Rolling Western coming to Europe next week
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 0 comments
If the latest issue of MCV’s magazine is to be believed, Dillon’s Rolling Western will arrive on the European eShop next week. The publication did not list a price point.
Dillon’s Rolling Western hasn’t been officially dated by Nintendo, but if it’s due out in Europe next week, it should be released in other territories soon.
Rumor: GameFly shares final name, release date for Mario Tennis 3DS
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 0 comments
Update: Curiously, the listing has been removed. See this story.
Could Mario Tennis Open be the final name for the new Mario Tennis game? GameFly seems to think so.
The retailer has added a listing for the title along with a May 20 release date.
Not much is known about the next Mario Tennis project. It was announced during the Nintendo 3DS Conference 2011 late last year. At the time of its reveal, President Satoru Iwata was only willing to confirm gyroscope support and a vague 2012 time frame for launch.

A rumor popped up last month that Sumo Digital has been working on a sequel to Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing. Kotaku is backing up this speculation, noting today that the game will be released this holiday season.
If the original rumor is to be believed, SEGA will publish the game for Wii U, 3DS, and Vita.
Rumor: Epic Mickey 2 getting Wii U support
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
Usually reliable gaming investigator Superannuation has heard rumblings that Epic Mickey 2 may see some sort of Wii U support. It appears that there will either be a Wii U version of the title, or the Wii edition will make use of the Wii U’s tablet one way or another.
Superannuation tweeted today:
“Apparently Junction Point is ‘implementing Wii U support for Epic Mickey 2.’ Not sure if that means WiiU SKU or Wii version supports tablet.”
I’m not sure how the Wii U controller would work on Wii. A separate Wii U version makes much more sense in my opinion. Then again, it’s currently unclear if any part of this rumor is true. We’ll just have to wait and see!
