Site updates

Today, another website is joining the Nintendo Everything and Gaming Everything family. We’re starting up “VGSavings”, otherwise known as “Video Game Savings”. Yes, I’m aware that it doesn’t end with “Everything” – shocking, I know!

I believe VGSavings is the perfect complement to our other sites due to the nature of intended updates. Unlike NE/GE, it won’t require constant attention. We’re really covering just one form of news there, and that’s it. I’m also not expecting to add in 15-20 posts per day. Although you never know…

We’ll probably cross-post some updates across the sites, so you’ll still be able to find out about some deals even if you aren’t visiting VGSavings on constantly. This will most likely be done through a daily wrap-up or something similar, so you’ll still need to check it out often for the latest and most-complete news!

I’m very curious to hear what you guys think about this new idea. But before you do, head on over to VGSavings, bookmark it, and prepare for posts starting tomorrow!

Sidenote: I’m pretty sure this will be the last site I create. I don’t think I can handle more than three…

Update: Game Night is now over!

Hop into the IRC for some Kid Icarus: Uprising/Mario Kart 7 online fun. As soon as you enter a name, you’ll be good to go!

Update: Game Night is in less than an hour. Be here!

Game Night is returning this week, and it’s just a few days away. We’ll be hosting the event on Friday at 7:30 PM EST (4:30 PM PST).

Based on the Swapnotes I received as well as other feedback about the upcoming Game Night, I think we’ll handle it like this: we’ll have two groups going. One group will be dedicated to Kid Icarus: Uprising while another will play Mario Kart 7.

Join us for this, please! It’s difficult to determine how often I’ll be able to host Game Nights due to my schedule and personal obligations, but hopefully they’ll become a more regular occurrence. I’d at least like to set them up on a fairly regular basis throughout the summer.

I’d say about 50% of our posts today have been about today/tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct. For those of you who missed out on the notices, be aware that the Japanese presentation begins in roughly two hours – 8:00 PM PST / 11:00 PM EST to be exact.

Nintendo of America will be sharing updates a half hour later. They’ve said that information will be shared throughout the night.

To wrap things up, Nintendo of Europe will show a modified version of the Japanese Nintendo Direct tomorrow at (I believe) 7:00 AM EST.

We’ll be around for all of the news. Be sure to check in on the site starting at 11:00 PM EST for updates, trailers, and any other content!

One of the more typical comments I read on the Nintendo Everything forum is how some of our members had no idea it exists. I can’t really blame them. I don’t mention the place much, and there’s only one small link to the boards on the top of the main site. But yes, we do have a forum!

My negligence has resulted in a fairly low membership rate. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, though. Unlike the case with most forums, everyone is able to catch up with the latest posts fairly quickly and we’ve developed into an extremely tight-knit community.

Registering on the forum is easy. Plus, the account that is created during the sign-up process will work on the main site. Any comment you make on NE’s homepage/subpages will appear in the “Nintendo Everything news” subforum (and vise versa).

I’ll leave you with this quote from senior Nintendo Everything forum-goer Sr. Gabo:

“If you want to know what the hell is going on join the forum!”

You can check out the forum here. The simple signup process can be accessed here.

Email issues

If you sent in an email through NE’s contact form and never received a reply, it’s not because we hate you!

Our system has been plagued with issues for the last month or so. Some emails were delayed while others simply never reached me at all.

All issues have been rectified – fingers crossed. Feel free to resend any important messages that were not responded to through the form here.

Unlike the past few Nintendo Directs, today’s presentation (or should I say presentations) will be streamed in the wee hours of the morning.

Here’s a quick run-through of the events:

Japanese Nintendo Direct – 6 AM EST / 3 AM PST
European Nintendo Direct – 7 AM EST / 4 AM PST (still not entirely sure about this, but it’s 1 PM CET for sure)
North American Nintendo Direct – 9 AM EST / 6 AM PST

I’m starting to get the feeling that the European Nintendo Direct will be the same presentation as the Japanese one, but with subtitles. Still, Nintendo of Europe is promising “European specific updates after the presentation finishes.”

As usual, I’ll embed a live-stream of the Japanese Nintendo Direct a few minutes before it begins… maybe 5:45 AM or so. As far as the European/North American shows go, check back regularly on the site for updates.

Update: Game Night is now over!

Hop into the IRC for some Mario Kart 7 fun. No registration required! The Nintendo Everything community code is 22-5271-0357-0675.

Game Night on Friday the 13th?! Maybe that was a bad idea! Let’s just assume that nothing terrible will happen…

Game Night will take place at the usual time – 7:30 PM EST. We’ll most likely be playing Mario Kart 7 for a couple of hours.

There’s a chance that this might be the last Game Night for about a month or so given how crummy my personal schedule is at the moment, so please join us tomorrow night if you’re looking to race your fellow Nintendo Everything followers online!

The next Game Night is scheduled for Friday, January 13 at 7:30 PM EDT. I unfortunately couldn’t fit it into my schedule this evening.

I’ve been thinking about some way to organize a Game Night when I’m not around. I mean, you guys aren’t children that need to be supervised! I’ll see what I can come up with.
