Site updates

Hey folks, Austin here! I’m going to host a Game Night tonight at 8PM EST (5PM PST). I need a couple of folks to play Heroes of Ruin with me for a review, so if anyone has that let me know.

Aside from Heroes of Ruin, it can be assumed we’ll see some Mario Kart, and maybe some Goldeneye or Monster Hunter or whatever else unfolds!

Email has been down for a good part of the day. If you sent in a message between 2:00 AM ET and 12:00 AM ET, your message may not have been received. All issues have now been resolved, so please resend your email if you don’t receive a reply soon.

So, VGSavings. It’s officially a failed experiment.

I’ve been thinking about the best course of action for the site for a few weeks now. And after talking with some folks and taking everything into account, I’ve decided that it’d be best to shut it down. I’m not sure if that’s a permanent decision, but that’s where things stand for the time being.

It’s incredibly tough managing a site. For the most part, I somehow have two running by myself. I think I underestimated how much work and effort is required in keeping a site up-to-date on a daily/hourly basis. VGSavings certainly opened my eyes to those challenges once again. Clearly I’m not in a position to be overseeing and writing for a third site at the moment.

Now, even though VGSavings is out of the picture, I do plan on updating Nintendo Everything and Gaming Everything with deals/savings/other offers on a more regular basis. I’m not sure why this had been a neglected area previously… but hey, we’re looking to fix that now. Although you won’t see as much savings content on NE/GE as you would on VGSavings, this is something I’ll be covering more frequently.

It’ll be a win-win for everybody – less pressure on me having to maintain a third website, and more opportunities for you guys to save some dough.

Suffering from a power outage isn’t exactly a good way to start a week. That’s exactly what happened to me a couple of hours ago. I tried heading out to a few places in search of free Wi-Fi, but unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything (kind of unbelievable, I know). It doesn’t help that my phone is so archaic that it can’t allow me to post updates on NE/GE properly…

Anyway, everything’s back to normal now. If you do happen to see a lack of updates today, you’ll at least know it’s because I’m without power!

The Japanese presentation should begin in a half hour. It looks like it’s a bit longer than normal, clocking in at 53 minutes. Another 11 minutes will showcase bonus content.

We’ll have coverage throughout and after the event, as well as updates from the North America/European presentations.

We’re two hours away from the next Nintendo Direct presentation.

Nintendo’s Japanese division will kick things off at 11:00 PM EDT / 8:00 PM PDT. We’ll have a live-stream of the event on NE shortly before it begins.

Next, the North American and European events will take place at 12:00 AM EDT / 9:00 PM PDT. I don’t believe the US presentation will have a live-stream. Well, maybe it will… we’ll see. If it’s only shown on Nintendo’s website, you’ll be able to watch it here. Nintendo of Europe’s event should be embeddable, so we’ll have it right here if possible.

As always, we’ll have updates throughout each Nintendo Direct, as well as after each show. It’ll be a long night (or early morning if you’re in Europe!), so hopefully these videos will be packed with interesting goodies.

So it doesn’t look like the 3DS software showcase can be embedded on NE. However, you can watch it online! Just head over to Nintendo’s specific page here to watch. It’ll begin in less than 10 minutes.

We’re about an hour away from Nintendo’s 3DS software showcase, the company’s last event of E3 2012. As the name implies, it’ll be focusing on the 3DS entirely.

New Super Mario Bros. 2, Paper Mario: Sticker Star, and Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon will all be on display. Third-party games will be highlighted as well. No idea if there will be any new announcements, but we should probably set the bar extremely low to avoid any disappointment.

A live-stream will be made available here. We’ll also post a stream to NE if it’s embed-able.

Update: Finally starting (9:20 PM EDT / 6:20 PM PDT). It’ll be 90 minutes long.

Nintendo’s second E3-related event of the day begins in an hour. The company’s developer roundtables have been an annual tradition, and they usually bring along some interesting news. No idea if there will be any revelations this year, but we previously found out about Pikmin 3 and received the first piece of Skyward Sword concept art from the same event.

I’ll keep my eye out on anything interesting coming from the roundtable and will be sure to post it on NE.
