Rhythm Thief & The Emperor’s Treasure isn’t all about music and rhythm gameplay. Producer Shun Nakamura assured Nintendo Power that the title is jam-packed with emotion.

Nakamura told the magazine:

“Let me put it this way: When you hear a song about heartbreak while you’re heartbroken yourself, don’t you connect with it much more deeply? Similarly, by giving players a hero to empathise with, all the moments become more powerful. The only other Rhythm game that I can think of that tried to connect with players on an emotional level was Sega’s Space Channel 5. I don’t think any other rhythm game has ever attempted to engage players’ emotions on as many levels as Rhythm Thief does.”

Nintendo of America localizing a Fatal Frame-like game?! I’m pretty surprised!

Built-In Camera and Augmented-Reality Features Offer Hair-Raising Hand-Held Fun

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Hand-held gaming fans with a taste for scary stories and paranormal activity have something special to look forward to this year. Nintendo of America has confirmed plans to launch Spirit Camera™: The Cursed Memoir, an immersive, horror-themed game developed exclusively for the portable Nintendo 3DS™ system, across North America on – when else? – Friday, April 13. The game uses the built-in camera functions and augmented-reality features of Nintendo 3DS to enhance a sinister, spellbinding storyline, incorporating players’ own pictures and surroundings to create a personalized 3D horror experience.

Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir introduces a mysterious girl named Maya who has been hiding in the shadows of an old house. Players must help Maya break free from a terrifying curse by aiding her escape from the clutches of a malevolent woman in black. By using the Nintendo 3DS system’s built-in camera, players can view Maya in their own surroundings as the game’s eerie events unfold.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced new Smash Bros. games for Wii U and 3DS at E3 2011. This was an unprecedented announcement for the company. Never before have two Smash Bros. projects been developed concurrently, nor has any game in the series graced a handheld system.

Unfortunately, it sounds like it’ll take quite some time before either title is released.

Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai indicated in a Nintendo Power interview that he had not yet formed an official team to work on the games. He said that development “may take a while”.

Sakurai told the magazine:

“I can’t really say anything until things settle down with Kid Icarus… And a lot of it will depend on the team that I end up assembling for Smash Bros. It may take a while, but I think that your patience will be rewarded.”

This probably isn’t what Smash Bros. fans would like to hear, but it shouldn’t come as a surprise. Sakurai has previously stated that the sole purpose of revealing the Smash Bros. games last June was to assemble developers for the future.

Trip World is available on the European/Japanese eShops. Nintendo has said that it’ll be out on the North American store soon.
