A look at ZombiU… before it was ZombiU
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
As many of you know, ZombiU wasn’t always a Wii U game. It actually started out as a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 project with the title “Attack of the Killer Rabbids from Outer Space”.
That was in 2010. In 2011, Ubisoft turned the game into “Killer Freaks from Outer Space” and unveiled its work at E3 2011.
What we saw at this year’s E3 was a surprise to many. Ubisoft, for the most part, “trashed” its previous two projects in favor of making ZombiU for Wii U. Some elements from the “Killer” projects may have been added to ZombiU, but for the most part, it’s a very different game.
You can take a look at a few concept images for both Attack of the Killer Rabbids from Outer Space and Killer Freaks from Outer Space in the gallery above. What’s shown for these two projects is a very, very different approach compared to ZombiU.

Wii U can output different audio to the GamePad and TV
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
According to Toki Tori 2 maker Two Tribes, the Wii U can output two different audio streams. Developers can send one sound to the television and another to the GamePad. This is somewhat similar to the Wii in that the controller’s built-in speaker can produce its own sound.
Two Tribes tweeted earlier today:
“We’ve got the first audio code running on Wii U. You can send separate audio to game pad and TV. Not sure yet if and how we can use that.”
While Two Tribes isn’t sure if they’ll be using this functionality, it’s possible that other studios will be incorporating it into their future projects.

The images above come from Nintendo’s latest annual report. Although they aren’t hugely important, they’re pretty interesting, and a few of them promote the upcoming launch of Wii U.
Nintendo’s annual report also contains a message from president Satoru Iwata. If you missed that, you can read it here.
