Dunaway on the appeal of Metroid: Other M…

“Well, you can’t get access to Samus and the Metroid franchise on the other platforms. And this experience isn’t about the graphics at all. It is a shooting game. But it is a much more emotional experience with story to it.”

Dunaway on Nintendo’s first half line-up, beating revenue numbers from last year…

“We certainly agree that we have a great line-up of games — and games that appeal to all types of audiences, from Super Mario Galaxy 2, to Metroid Other M, to FlingSmash on the Wii. Great software sells hardware. We see that time and again. We have the kind of products that will allow us to have strong momentum this year. The pacing of the software releases is different than it was last year. That will benefit us and the retailers.”

Use the Wii Remote like a racket and watch Zip bounce around like a pinball to smash through oncoming barriers and enemies in this action-sidescroller.

“We currently concentrate on WiiWare. For this year we have two new games that are in genres we didn’t entered before. Of course we try again to make the best game in that genre on that platform. I think we just like the challenge to go beyond and not to repeat ourselves.

One of the games will be in the racing genre. It gives really a new definition of speed, trust me on that. The other one is the first of its kind on WiiWare. We will soon have an announcement for it. Both games have very high production values, even for our standards.” – Shin’en cofounder Manfred Linzner

We’ve only seen a few WiiWare projects from Shin’en so far, but they’ve been quite impressive. I’m also a fan of some of the company’s other titles, like Nanostray for the DS. Because of that, I have to say that I’m very interested in Shin’en’s new WiiWare titles.
