Nintendo Switch 2 LCD explained

Just like the original Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 features an LCD screen. Some had hoped that the system would end up going the OLED route, but that wasn’t meant to be.

Nintendo’s Tetsuya Sasaki has now explained the decision to go with an LCD screen over the OLED as part of a recent interview. Sasaki indicated that the LCD space has seen “a lot of advancements” and also pointed out that the OLED version of Nintendo Switch didn’t support HDR, which is built in for Switch 2.

Nintendo Switch 2 DLSS ray tracing

Nintendo has confirmed a couple of key technical points for Switch 2, as we now know officially that it will support DLSS upscaling tech as well as ray tracing.

DLSS has been one of the earlier rumors surrounding the console. Essentially, if a game uses it, that means it can reach a higher resolution without actually hitting that target natively.

Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle

Earlier today, Nintendo revealed a special Switch 2 bundle for Mario Kart World, but new information has come to light that it will only be available for a limited time.

Those that have any interest in the new system and racer will definitely want to pick up the bundle. It’s not anything special technically, but it’s really about saving some cash. Together, everything costs $500. Since Mario Kart World costs $80 on its own, you’re saving $30 here.

One tidbit that may have gone under the radar regarding Nintendo Switch 2 is that the system will support variable refresh rate (VRR).

Nintendo notes that VRR “helps games move seamlessly by preventing frame skips and flickering.” Arcade Archives Ridge Racer 2 is one title that has specifically mentioned making use of the tech.

Mario Kart World All Characters List

Ahead of the Mario Kart World Direct on April 17, we’ve gathered up a list of every character confirmed for the game, both new and old. It’s important to note that characters do have different outfits to wear this time around, though it appears they may be tied to course items rather than chosen on character select.

Mario Kart World was recently announced at the big Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, and one of its defining features is a heaping pile of new racers – and the new additions are both perplexing and entertaining.
