Wii U eShop

Steam and PlayStation platforms both implement a cross-buy feature. As an example, if you purchase an indie title available for both the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita, you’re only required to pay once in order to receive copies for both platforms.

Unfortunately, Nintendo doesn’t offer similar functionality for its own systems. If you buy a game from the 3DS eShop, you don’t receive a corresponding copy for Wii U. You’re forced to pay a second time for what essentially amounts to the same game.

While cross-buy isn’t something that Nintendo currently offers, “the idea’s been talked about.” That’s according to Dan Adelman, the man in charge of all things indie at Nintendo of America.

He told Nintendo World Report:

“We don’t have anything new to announce on that, but I believe that the idea’s been talked about. So it’s something we’re definitely up to considering if there’s enough demand from developers, but nothing to announce for right now.”

Futuresco Games has launched a new Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for something called “Coco Returns”. The title, described as “the first ChromaDepth displaying video game ever”, has a chance of coming to Wii U.

Coco Returns needs $4,000 to be fully funded. A Wii U funding goal lies at $75,000.

It’ll come with at least 40 levels, difficulty modes, a scoring system, and more.

There’s a trailer above, but Futuresco warns that all graphics and videos thus far are preliminary and the team is working on improving the graphic art.

You can find more information about Coco Returns on the Indiegogo page here.
