Wii U

In interviews we’ve seen over the past couple of weeks, Nintendo has indirectly said that Miiverse won’t be compatible with other social networks. But now Nintendo of Europe’s Laurent Fischer has confirmed outright that it doesn’t work with such sites as Twitter and Facebook.

While speaking about Miiverse, Fischer did say that the system will work on other hardware including mobile phones and laptops.

With the Japanese Wii release of Dragon Quest X drawing near, Square Enix has been sending out details about the game at a rampant pace. Even more information was shared today.

Square Enix handed out a new dose of screenshots and details concerning Dragon Quest X’s battle system. We’ve rounded up the information below.

– Six basic jobs in Dragon Quest X
– Each job has special abilities
– Use these abilities in battle
– Warriors are best with direct attacks and should protect mages and monks
– Warriors can use Souten Mazan
– This move paralyzes the enemy
– Freeze Blade and Gigaslash can also be used
– Thieves are at their best when switching between attack and defense
– Additionally, thieves can use a steal command to take enemy gold and items
– Thieves can use Tiger Claw and Banana Drop moves
– Banana Drop: character drops a banana on the ground to lure the enemy
– Enemy will slip on the banana and will become temporarily immobile
– Mages are at their best when allies stand in front and stop enemy attacks
– They should cast spells from afar

As has been the case for quite some time, Nintendo isn’t concerned with console power. The Wii U is capable in its own right, but no one expects it to offer more juice than Microsoft and Sony’s next-gen systems.

Shigeru Miyamoto was recently asked about the Wii U’s power relative to the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 successors. He responded by saying that power and cost must be balanced, and in a separate answer, said that “it’s easy to lose sight of whether a game is fun or not.”

Head past the break to see all of Miyamoto’s comments about console power, Nintendo’s switch to HD, and changes made to the Wii U (the hardware hasn’t changed over the past year, but obviously the GamePad has).

The video above provides a closer look at the actual Wii U console and the GamePad. This one is for the tech lovers out there!

Even though Crytek doesn’t have a game in development for Wii U, the company still has high praise for the console. CEO Cevat Yerli had some very nice things to say about its power and the hardware overall while speaking with CVG.

When discussing Wii U, Yerli explained the reasoning as to why the studio isn’t working on the platform directly. He also teased a mystery title “from a respected developer that we will be announcing.” This project is apparently running on CryEngine 3.

Yerli said:

It was rather odd seeing a lack of Japanese Wii U games at E3 2012. That doesn’t mean that Japanese developers aren’t interested in the system, however.

Famitsu interviewed a number of high-profile creators in its latest issue, including Yoshinori Ono, Suda 51 (who had promised No More Heroes 3 for Nintendo’s new console a few years ago!), Keiji Inafune, Akihiro Hino, and more. Head past the break to see what they had to say about the system.

Game Critics has announced its nominees for the “Best of E3 2012” awards. Regarding Nintendo, the publisher received seven nominations in total.

The full list of categories can be found below. Winners will be shared on June 26.
