Access your Wii U account anywhere, digital content possibility tied in

Because the Wii U is making use of an account system, there’s a lot of flexibility in terms of accessing settings and other content at any time.
Cindy Gordon, vice-president of corporate affairs at Nintendo of America, has said that this functionality will allow you to “to access your account anywhere.” So if you’re visiting a friend’s house, you should be able to retrieve your profile on that system.
Gordon’s response was actually about playing games on another Wii U. Based on her comments, it sounds like digital content could be tied to your account. That would certainly be a step in the right direction for Nintendo, its online plans, and its approach to non-retail offerings.
EA has two unannounced Wii U games in the works

EA is starting to get more specific with regard to its plans for Wii U.
The company has two unannounced titles in development for the platform. Right now it’s looking like they’ll be announced later this summer. EA label president Frank Gibeau has said that the company will “have a bigger line-up for Wii U than we did on the Wii.”
According to Gibeau:
“We’ve got a couple of more games in development for Wii U and we’ll have a bigger line-up for Wii U than we did on the Wii. It is the first next-generation platform coming out so we’re really supporting it. Just looking at E3 and where we’re at, we wanted to hold our fire a little bit on a couple of the other games that we’re working on. We’ll have more announcements this summer on the rest of the Wii U line-up. …You’ll hear more later this summer.”
Gibeau also spoke about the GamePad, stating that EA will “do some new, unique things with it on the Wii U controller and the second screen that we’re innovating on”.
Mass Effect 3 is one of the company’s games that will be taking advantage of the new controller.

THQ president may not be keen on third Darksiders

With THQ’s recent downturn, newly appointed president Jason Rubin is looking to shake things up within the company. One of the first changes could be made with Darksiders, which may end with its second entry.
Rubin sees Darksiders II as an “interesting” title, but he feels that he “can get that team to make other very interesting games.”
Rubin said:
“Darksiders 2 is very interesting, but I think I can get that team to make other very interesting games.”
Surely a lot hinges on the financial success of Darksiders II. The first game in the series was well-received, but it performed poorly on the market. If Darksiders II bombs, fans may have to kiss the series goodbye.
Thanks to Jake for the tip.
Ubisoft thinks Nintendo will produce 5 million Wii U systems in first 6 months
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
One of the hot topics surrounding the launches of Wii and 3DS was related to the amount of stock available. With the Wii in particular, finding a system in stores was incredibly difficult for the first few months.
Will that happen with the Wii U? It’s anybody’s guess. Keeping that in mind, there could be a significant amount of units available in the console’s first six months if new comments from Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot can be relied on.
Guillemot believes Nintendo will produce five million units during the Wii U’s first six months on the market.
He noted:
“Generally, that’s what (Nintendo) does. The number can be more, it can be less… they are always limited in the number that they can build.”
Activision-owned DemonWare involved with Wii U

Based on a new LinkedIn profile finding, DemonWare is working with Wii U. Software engineer Jonathan Frawley listed the console as a development platform.
While that may not seem like a big deal, it’s significant because the company is owned by Activision. Some of DemonWare’s online technology has been incorporated into Call of Duty and Guitar Hero.
Maybe this is a sign of things to come… such as Black Ops II for Wii U.
Nintendo tried out Pikmin experiments on 3DS/DS, Miyamoto explains lack of online

Shigeru Miyamoto has shared new tidbits about Pikmin 3, including some interesting development revelations.
Before Pikmin 3 became a concrete idea, Nintendo tried out some experiments on the 3DS and DS. The game was then planned for Wii, but once Wii U rolled on in, Pikmin 3 was moved over to the new console.
Miyamoto has also explained the lack of online play for the title. He told IGN that “it would be very difficult to sync up” all of the Pikmin’s locations and movements, so it will support local multiplayer only.
