This may not come as a surprise to many of you, but Ubisoft says they like the Wii U! After giving the console a plethora launch titles (including the wonderful survival horror title ZombiU), the company is gearing up for tonight’s launch in the UK. Here’s what they had to say about the Wii U in general:

“Since E3, Nintendo has been consistently building presence in consumers’ minds through their PR activities as well as events and media. Over that period, we have also been pushing our own games to position them as key choices for gamers who purchase the console. On some occasions such as E3, we’ve worked together to ensure maximum exposure for both companies. We find core gamers and the technologically-minded tend to be the first adopters of new consoles. It’s no real surprise that games that appeal to this audience are more likely to perform well early on. As Wii U reaches broader audiences, we will see a shift in the types of games bought.”

And here’s an added tidbit of praise for the big N and their hardware development:

“Once again, Nintendo is the first to bring something new to home consoles. The innovation brought by the Wii U marks a step change, which will become more obvious as users familiarise themselves with these new gameplay possibilities.”

Nyko is working on an accessory for the Wii U GamePad – known as “U Boost” – which promises to extend the battery life of the controller. Supposedly, the new rechargeable lithium polymer battery doubles the GamePad’s play time.

Amazon UK lists a November 30 release date for U Boost. You’ll be able to use the existing Wii U GamePad AC adaptor with the new battery.

In what will undoubtedly be the most important news of the night, there’s a clip floating around of Michelle Obama being told what a Wii U is. She had no idea what the console is and how it differs from a Wii before a visiting child explained it to her.

Edit: Valay says I would know more about it than he… but unfortunately I’ve yet to find the zombie that the dev team speaks of! A map showed up on Miiverse a few hours ago but I’ve been unable to find it since, so in the meantime I’ll just wander around. If I find it I’ll let everyone know what it was.

The development team behind ZombiU was recently teasing… something for the game. We weren’t quite sure what was planned, but some players may have come across the surprise.

After returning to the location where the original message was found, the following appears:

So, basically, it sounds like you’ll receive some extra/unique loot by taking down this zombie. Austin would probably know about this better than myself!

The Wii U is getting off to a rough start in Australia.

First and foremost, Activision has cancelled the release of 007 Legends in the continent. It’s currently unclear why and how this decision was reached.

Other disappointing Wii U news concerns the delay of three games: NBA 2K13, Epic Mickey 2: Power of Two and Marvel Avengers: The Battle for Earth. 2K’s basketball title will be out early next year while Epic Mickey 2 and Marvel Avengers will launch on December 13.
