Another wave of Nintendo Switch 1 games have been fixed for backwards compatibility on Switch 2.
This ties in with the latest firmware update. Version 20.4.0 dropped for both systems this week, and while Nintendo didn’t mention anything, several more titles now work properly.
The full list is as follows:
Following the launch of Nintendo Switch 2, we’re putting together a complete list of Nintendo Switch 2 games with a game-key card release.
This is a new approach to physical media, which has seen a mixed reaction. In a way, it’s a hybrid between a true physical release and a download code. Each box comes with a cartridge, but there’s nothing really included. Rather than coming with all content, you’ll need to download the game first. After that you don’t need to connect online, but you need to insert the card each time you play.
Thousands of games are currently available on Switch, and there are a ton of demos out there for many of them. Not just Nintendo, but also third-parties are offering demos. We’ve now put together a comprehensive list of what’s out there.
Since our reader base is English-speaking, that’s what we’re focusing on here. In other words, we’re highlighting Switch demos that you can find in North America and Europe. Japan has a few extra demos on its end, but a majority of them are for titles that are not currently being sold in the west and are only playable in Japanese.
The latest Nintendo Switch eShop charts for the week of September 6, 2025 are now available.
You didn’t need us to tell you this, but yes, it’s Hollow Knight: Silksong on top this week. But what’s also interesting is that the series’ first game is right behind it. Other than that, we see Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots in the top ten as another new title.
Below are the full Nintendo Switch eShop charts for the week of September 6, 2025:
We have a new launch trailer for Bad Cheese after it came out this week. This game, which just came to Nintendo Switch, is a psychological horror experience inspired by the eerie charm of 1920s animation.
Further details can be found in the following overview:
For such a popular console, it’s been surprisingly difficult to find the perfect grip case for the Nintendo Switch 2. We’ve reviewed the Savage Raven NeoGrip, the Savage Raven StandGrip, the JSAUX Split Protective Case, and the Genki Attack Vector so far. dbrand’s Killswitch 2 had some problems when it launched earlier this year – namely, the Joy-Con would often fall off and disconnect from the Nintendo Switch 2 unit entirely during normal gameplay (or if you held the console with one hand, which is a pretty common thing to do).
We’ve now just received the dbrand Killswitch 2 travel case with updated Joy-Lock grips. This new updated design promises to fix the Killswitch 2’s previous attachment issues. Now that customers are finally getting their revised units, is this the best Switch 2 case on the market? It’s certainly the most expensive one, costing around $60 for the essential kit and around $80 for the travel kit.
By now, there are a few dormant Nintendo franchises that are kind of infamous because they haven’t had a new game in many years. That said, it’s not like Nintendo never takes risks with smaller games – Clubhouse Games, New Pokemon Snap, Big Brain Academy, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, and especially Emio – The Smiling Man are all great examples of the Big N bringing back dormant franchises in recent years. You could argue New Pokemon Snap isn’t a dormant franchise, and that’s sort of true – the point is, Nintendo is known to take risks with some of its smaller IP. It’s just that those risks usually do not include the IP that some fans want to see.
So today, we’re going over some franchises we could see Nintendo bring back on Switch 2. For the console’s first year or so, we do expect the company to focus primarily on heavy hitters. As time passes, though, we’ll most certainly start seeing some smaller titles based on long-inactive IP after a while. Nintendo commented on rising development costs a little while back, stating that they can make appealing titles even if they have a short development period.
September 3: A couple of days before its debut, Cronos: The New Dawn has been given its launch trailer. Bloober Team is showing off its new survival horror game.
A bunch of information about it can be found in the following overview:
July 1, 2024: Nintendo recently filed a pair of lawsuits against individuals who the company believes facilitated piracy on Switch. Torrent Freak reported on the findings.
In the first lawsuit, Modded Hardware is accused of violating the DMCA by selling mod chips and MIG devices. Modded consoles with pirated games were apparently shipped as well. While Nintendo originally reached out to owner Ryan Daly with a lawsuit threat and it was agreed that unlawful activity would cease, Modded Hardware continued on. Daly eventually said he was looking for a new lawyer, but Nintendo wouldn’t wait any further and filed a proper lawsuit.
