Firebrand Games, the developer behind Need for Speed: The Run on Nintendo platforms, has confirmed that the title will feature an autolog system as well as online play.
The company’s website states:
“Firebrand’s third product in the massive Need for Speed series also marks both the Glasgow Studio’s first entry into the franchise and the first Firebrand title developed for Nintendo 3DS. The game features a unique parallel storyline to the HD versions of The Run told in 3D motion comic form.
“Featuring a fusion of classic Need for Speed gameplay with an epic race across the USA, both the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii games feature over 200 miles of track and 40 supercars to drive. The 3DS game also includes Local and Online racing and the first handheld version of Need for Speed’s incredibly addictive Autolog system- battle your friends across 40 Challenges- who can complete The Run in the fastest time?”
Firebrand is also working on the Wii version of the latest Need for Speed game, but the site doesn’t provide any details. Hopefully it, too, will contain online gameplay.
The latest issue of the Official Nintendo Magazine has revealed that they will have the first review of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword next month. The December 2011 issue goes on sale on October 20. This means that the review should arrive about a month before the game launches worldwide.
This information comes from Bethesda’s Pete Hines…
“It’s definitely a possibility for the future. We’ll look at any platform that will support that games we’re trying to make, but that’s the key thing – the console has to support the game as it is designed.
“The more changes we have to make to a game the less and less palatable it becomes because making a game is an enormous process. Just doing 360, PS3 and PC – I don’t think people understand the amount of work that goes into that. All of the localisation you have to do… all of the testing you have to do… on every platform in every language… It’s a pretty huge undertaking.
“So you aren’t just supporting the Wii U; You’re supporting it in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.”
When Hines was asked about bringing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to Wii U, he said, “We’ll see. It’s definitely a possibility.”
