Amazon has revealed additional information about Rayman 3D. One piece of information listed is that the title is based on the Dreamcast version of Rayman 2. Other details included on the retailer’s website are:

    * Significant improvements on gameplay, offering improved graphics, 3D, and giving players the possibility to take advantage of the analog stick.
    * A great diversity of environments. Progress in 45 areas set across 13 regions of Rayman’s world. Uncover the whole universe in 3D during +/-15 hours of fun.
    * Elaborate action-based character movements. Run, climb, jump, swim, fly, loop-the-loop and even water-ski to escape from the threat! Rayman did not lose any of his famous abilities such as flying as an helicopter using his hair!
    * Get back to the good old quarrels between Rayman and his villainous enemies: Face the Admiral Razorbeard, the Henchman and every other creature that make Rayman?s progression much harder!

This information comes from the latest edition of Iwata Asks…

Miyamoto: Yes. So, in the interests of adopting new technology for the Super Mario Bros. tradition, I am now making a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Nintendo 3DS system.

Iwata: The next stage for the Super Mario Bros. Preservation Society’s activities is the Nintendo 3DS.

Miyamoto: Yes. (laughs) I want to show everyone as soon as possible what the new Super Mario Bros. will be like on the Nintendo 3DS.

Miyamoto has teased the next Mario game for 3DS for a few months, but we still haven’t seen the project yet. I’m curious to know if it’ll be a 2D side-scroller (well, I suppose it would still be 3D!) or a polygonal 3D adventure.
