Mini Marios Mean Maximum Fun!
At the grand opening of Mario’s new theme park, where Pauline is a special guest, the first 100 guests will receive a mini Pauline toy. Donkey Kong is the 101st guest to arrive. Instead of walking away empty handed, he grabs Pauline and heads into the park. Now Mario must rescue Pauline by guiding Mini Marios through over 200 new action-puzzle levels filled with traps set by Donkey Kong. Grab your stylus and place girders to cross pits, build conveyor belts, set springs, or even place warp pipes to solve these puzzling levels. Mario VS. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem! is the latest installment in the Mario VS. Donkey Kong franchise that offers plenty of new challenges for new players and fans alike.

FEATURES:

Use your stylus to strategically place items and solve different puzzles. Once you tap the Mini Marios, be ready to react quickly to help guide them safely to the exit.

With an intuitive interface, players of any experience level will be able to enjoy Mario VS. Donkey Kong. Players can access the in-game Help Mode that lets you get more information on key items. Additionally, if players get stuck trying to solve a level, they can now use the new Mini Guide to demonstrate a possible solution.

Feeling creative? Construct your own levels in the Construction Zone with an easy-to-use level building tool. You are also able to share your new levels with friends over local wireless or post them online using the Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection.

Access new levels created by fellow users with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Store up to 160 additional puzzles to always take the action with you, wherever you go.

Participate in the all new Challenge Mode where you will create a level based on certain criteria. Players can vote for their favorites and the top rated levels will be announced.

The new Mini Pauline toy has been added to the roster of familiar toys in the series (Mini Mario, Mini Toad™, Mini Princess and Mini Donkey Kong).

Go Behind the Seams with Kirby!
Kirby’s first console platform game since the Nintendo 64™ days introduces an amazing new look based on animated yarn and a world of cloth and textiles. The creative approach is woven directly into the game play and allows the ever-morphing Kirby™ to take on a variety of new forms. A simultaneous two player* mode will have players of all skill levels enjoying this one-of-a-kind experience.

FEATURES:

The look of the world is stunning, but it’s also interactive. Pulling on stray threads might reveal hidden areas. When Kirby literally goes behind the scenes, the virtual fabric warps and bends to show his location.

Thanks to his versatile yarn composition, Kirby can take on a variety of forms both in his common actions and when he transforms into powerful vehicles. When Kirby dashes, he zips around as a car. In water, he turns into a submarine. At times he can even transform into a massive robotic tank, a UFO and other vehicles.

Two players can play through the entire game together.

Beads and collectible items are scattered throughout the environments for players to find.

This information comes from Satoru Iwata…

“We believe that, naturally, instant communication between the 3DS and a console in your home will become one topic in the future, but today I cannot talk about specifics regarding the kinds of things you can do in terms of connectivity between a 3DS and console.”

One aspect of 3DS to console connectivity one would expect is for Mii features – moving them between your systems. Overall, I hope that the feature is used more often than what we saw with the Wii and DS.

“We don’t believe that the world is in a state where high priced software will sell well, so we don’t believe it will be in a price range too far off from current DS software.”

I’m expecting that Nintendo will price most of their games at around $40 or so. Although, the situation with third-parties could be a bit different. Square Enix in particular may charge around $45 for some of their titles.

– Masahiro Sakurai liked “Resident Evil Revelations. Also, Super Monkey Ball maintains 60 frames per second, so it’s extremely smooth.”
– Kid Icarus: Uprising playable for the first time at Nintendo’s conference
– Could play on stage 1 (easy) and stage 4 (hard)
– Could choose from 3 weapons
– First part of the first stage was in the air
– Second part had Pit on the ground
– Charge shot powerful in the air
– Gameplay changes to third-person shooting when on the ground
– Person playing the game thought the simultaneous movement and aiming of Pit’s view was difficult
– Boss at the end
– Player enjoyed the temp for the game’s close combat, can easily kill off enemies in succession
– Analogue pad for movement
– Evade attacks by pulling back on the analogue pad
– Aim with the touch screen
– Shoot with L
– Also do close range attacks with L
– Charge shot built up automatically
– Pointer gets bigger when it’s charged up
– For the first stage, there was fully voiced conversation between Pit and Goddess Palthena (mid-battle conversation)

This information comes from Masahiro Sakurai…

“I’ve been hearing a variety of opinions, but they’re more favorable than expected. However, I do feel the height of the threshold for the TPS genre, so I believe we’ll have to come up with some ideas for this. There were many opinions that aiming is difficult. We’re thinking of adding an assist feature for the final version. Also there have been some opinions that it’s difficult to move and aim at the same time. There are people who don’t like 3D, so we wont be putting in any devices that can only be cleared in 3D.”

“As part of the functionality of SpotPass, we’re looking into having automatic system updates via the internet.”

Although some firmware updates will be to improve on the piracy situation, players will mostly receive upgrades to obtain new functionality on the 3DS. According to Iwata, players haven’t enjoyed manually updating their systems, so this time around the 3DS will be able to update its firmware via the package software itself.

“We believed this to be doable because the usable ROM size for the 3DS would become much larger.”
