Nintendo of America today announced the addition of a new color scheme for the portable Nintendo DSi XL™ system. Starting July 11, U.S. consumers will be able to purchase the system in midnight blue. Like the original bronze and burgundy versions, the midnight blue Nintendo DSi XL will be available at a suggested retail price of $189.99.
Nintendo DSi XL is the latest iteration of Nintendo’s top-selling family of hand-held game systems. In addition to its two built-in cameras and photo- and sound-manipulation functions, Nintendo DSi XL offers two screens that are 93 percent larger than those on the Nintendo DS™ Lite system.

“Of course, it allows us to do things that couldn’t be done until now, so the development staff is showing great interest, but what’s important is how much the users themselves want 3D content. What we’re more looking forward to is the offering of a new business model. Nintendo has been in the hardware business for a long time, and I believe they must be looking closely at Apple’s recent success. We third parties are paying attention to Nintendo’s E3 3DS announcement because of this point as well.” – Capcom CEO Haruhiro Tsujimoto
Well, I guess Capcom doesn’t know that much about the 3DS! Eventually I’d like to see the company support it with a lot of original content. They have talented developers, but a lot of content on the DS has consisted of ports.
