“We are not talking to one person alone, with all his or her attention as we did on our previous projects. We can’t fool him or her with pretty graphics and trippy music alone anymore. On the Wii… you get distracted. It’s part of the package. People interrupt. A discussion starts. So we are basically talking to very short-attention-span audience. The good part of this is that you must be really incisive about your game. You also have to keep it simple (and hopefully not stupid, unless intentionally). Also, we want to keep on talking to kids, even more than what we did [with] BBM, and the Wii audience is cool for that. We will try some hopefully clever tricks, even for the solo mode, on how the game can adapt to things actually happening in the living room where you play,” he explains, giving use a glimpse of one idea: “Say you are a father, playing by yourself a nice level of the solo Arcade mode. Your 4-year-old daughter comes in and wants to join. What’s her mood today? Does she want to help you fight the baddies, or does she want to have fun tickling them so they can get crazy and annoy you more?” – Arkedo’s Camille Guermonprez

Other than confirming that Red Steel 2 actually exists, Ubisoft has refrained from sharing specific game details. That will change next month though, as the next issue of NGamer will have the scoop on the game. Red Steel 2 will indeed have MotionPlus support, and the magazine promises to have information on “MotionPlus swordsmanship.” The May edition of NGamer will go on sale on March 25.

Thanks to Smash1 for the news tip.

Rumors relating to Final Fantasy: The After began to appear last year when Takashi Tokita stated that Square Enix would do their best to release the game for overseas territories. Now a very similar title, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, has popped up in both the European Patent and Trademark database and United States Patent and Trademark Office. According to Cubed3, the game would arrive on WiiWare and quite possibly XBLA and PSN as well.

Looks like more information can be expected in March…

Capcom revealed the following information in a Q&A conference call…

“There is no significant change in Capcom’s strategy, and we will primarily release game titles for PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. In addition, we plan to release our leading titles overseas to acquire game users, as the overseas market for Wii is extensive. One of our leading titles is ‘Monster Hunter 3 (tri-).’ If we can gain recognition of this product in the European and North American markets, our market strategy will see a noticeable change. Meanwhile, we are reviewing the possibility of releasing new titles besides ‘Ace Attorney’ for Nintendo DS.” – Capcom

CID present day…

Posted 15 years ago by in News, Wii | 0 comments

CID begins his adventure!
NORTHAMPTONSHIRE, UK Tues 24th February

Mia has grown, and is struggling with the fact that Professor B M Werken wants her to be his little girl when she wants to be her own person.

D-Troit is pure evil and has his own Crash Impact Dummy manufacturing plant, now joint market leader with the Professor’s outfit. His Crash Test Dummies are a little evil-looking though. There’s just… something about them. There’s still a little tiny piece of good in him, mind you, and that’s important.

“Interestingly, I actually spend far more time playing Wii with my four year-old boy than I do with any other game console. So I’m definitely sympathetic to the platform. But “Rage” is not a viable option on the Wii because of the technology. We’ve been pitched and talked about a project to do a title that would fit well on the Wii, and it’s actually related to an iPhone title that we’re doing. But that’s still kind of up in the air as to what other developer we would partner with on there. I’d like to do something there, because I love a lot of what Nintendo has done with the Wii and the DS, but it’s just out of sync with the developments that are currently going on at id…it would have to be a completely different game[new IP]. We would use one of our existing IPs where we have a little bit of leverage. It’s not something that really any of our titles, that are under development currently would be appropriate for.” – id Software’s John Carmack

Mr. Carmack has worked on Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Quake, and much more. Personally, I’d love to see some of his work on the Wii and DS.
