More Wi-Fi aspects of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars are now available, thanks to the latest Nintendo Power. Rockstar will be hosting competitions for prizes through the Rockstar Social Club. Players can access competitions via an in-game PC. Some competitions will focus around game-completion percentages while others will be based on how well missions have been completed.

Aside from competitions, Chinatown Wars will also allow players who have registered each others Friend Codes to exchange messages with each other in real time. Furthermore, it has been reconfirmed that friends can trade items and favorite locations that have been marked on the GPS.

Some gamers have been complaining about the number of Nintendo titles that have been released over the past few years. However, the company has now responded to those who have said that their output of titles has been low as of late.

“Until now there have been complaints that Nintendo makes too many games or Nintendo dictates too much leadership. Complaining that Nintendo makes too few games is a first, isn’t it?” – Nintendo of Japan PR

The latest buzz surrounding GDC 2009 is that three (four, technically) Nintendo characters will be at this year’s conference this year. The rumor specifically involves Link, Kid Icarus, and the Ice Climbers. Games wouldn’t necessarily be shown – hints to future projects, listing of the characters, or possibly more would be shared.

I do want to stress that this rumor should be taken with a huge grain of salt. In the past, some rumors have proved to be valid but in this case it’s really unclear. I would expect Nintendo to do something like this at E3, but not really GDC…Who knows. We’ll have to just wait and see. Just remember to have a bit of skepticism in mind and don’t set yourselves up for disappointment!

Thanks to Jake for the news tip.
