I don’t really know how you can argue with that. Simon Jeffrey is essentially saying that the Wii has sold comparably to the PS2 last generation. It’ll be interesting to see if Wii can keep its sales momentum throughout its entire lifecycle.

Cambridge, Mass. – February 17, 2009 – Harmonix and MTV Games announced today the addition of seven tracks from alternative grunge band Nirvana to the Rock Band® Music Store catalog of downloadable content for Wii™ home videogame console from Nintendo.
The lineup includes seven master recordings from Nirvana’s 1991 album Nevermind including “Breed,” “Lounge Act,” “On a Plain,” “Polly,” “Something in the Way,” “Stay Away,” and “Territorial Pissings.” These tracks join “In Bloom” from the original Rock Band soundtrack and “Drain You” featured on the Rock Band 2 soundtrack to make for a total of nine Nirvana songs available in the Rock Band music catalog available to Wii owners.

With the announcement of Dead Space Extraction for Wii, the one element that may have been receiving mixed reactions is the fact that the game is on-rails. One may be wondering why EA decided to go this way. Executive producer Steve Papoutsis has explained the reasoning for their on-rails decision:

All-New Hero, Story and Characters Extend the Dead Space Universe
Guildford, UK; February 18, 2009 – Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) today revealed Dead Space™ Extraction, an all-new chapter from the studio that delivered the award-winning action-horror Dead Space game. Built from the ground up and developed exclusively for the Wii™, Dead Space Extraction is a prequel that reveals the events leading up to Isaac Clarke’s mission on the USG Ishimura in the original Dead Space game released in 2008.
