Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. has been rumored to be in development for the Wii for a considerable amount of time. No official announcement was ever made, but the speculation continued. H.A.W.X. does seem slightly possible to be releasing on the Wii at this point – an IGN listing was discovered for the title in addition to a recently added GameStop and GameFly retail listings. Most speculate that the game may be revealed at E3 for the Wii, although we’re still far from an official confirmation.

“When girls play console games, they have to have gone through a whole other list of things they could have done before sitting down with them. Guys get home, have dinner, and play a computer game. It’s much higher up the list of priorities. To put it bluntly, girls have got better things to do.” – James Scalpello, wireless director of THQ

That’s pretty much as sexist as it can get in the video game industry. I know there are a lot of serious girl games out there…Video games are just as important to females as they are to males, if you ask me.

– enemies will be ’scarier’ and have new tactics

– co-op gameplay

– vehicles and squad-based multiplayer

– Wii version is being handled by Treyarch, but a separate team within Treyarch

– CoD 4 engine has been adapted to Wii

– Wii Zapper support

– Opening scene: Japanese commander stubbing a cigarette out in the eye of a prisoner before slitting his throat – the blood splatters and dribbles down the side of the tent you are being held in. He turns towards you to deal out the same treatment but help arrives just in time. Cue a daring level-long escape.

“Man, we can definitely talk about the Wii Version, I mean, where do we start? Well, first and foremost, The Wii version is being developed here at Treyarch. It’s a separate team from the next-gen team but its on-site. If you’re going to compare the next-gen version and the wii version side-by-side then you’re going to find that it’s a much closer comparison than, I think, any other Wii game currently on the market.”

“Yeah, the challenge with this one was ‘how do we make a cutting edge next-gen game work on the wii’?’. The answer is a lot of frickin’ smart engineers who’ve shipped Wii titles in the past. Getting the call of duty 4 engine on Wii was our first challenge – which we’ve managed to do and it looks great – but there are also a content and design challenges to consider.”

“Beyond that, We’re reall accepting the fact that the person buying on the Wii is doing so for a different kind of experience. I mean, we’re going to be supporting the Zapper and, I don’t know how familiar you are with the Zapper personally, but you lose about five or six buttons on that controller, so it’s very challenging to make a call of duty game that functions well. We’ll be doing some unique stuff with co-op gameplay, too, but we’re not ready to talk on that yet. I honestly think you’ll see what we’re taking the Wii very seriously.”

New DS demo – Arkanoid DS (expires 6/15)

The latest additions to the Wii™ Shop Channel offer a remarkable array of characters you won’t find just anywhere. A fresh WiiWare™ title gives Pokémon lovers a whole new way to wrangle and enjoy their little pals, while a pair of imported Virtual Console™ releases will pump up the action quotient—literally—for fans of NES® classics.

Nintendo adds new and classic games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii™ owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week’s new games are:

“Nothing is ever final, but we’ve been asked twice if we’ve wanted to bring it Westward and twice we’ve declined. – Christian Svensson, Capcom Entertainment Inc.” – VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development

This probably isn’t the worst of news considering that most who are interested in Resident Evil 0 most likely already purchased the title for the GameCube. However, the Resident Evil series has been one of the more successful third-party franchises on the Nintendo consoles. Is this a huge mistake on the part of Capcom USA?
