Update: Looks like Nikkei Net is confirming the news.

A massive rumor has just hit the Internet involving features in a new DS system. Nekkei newspaper and Monex have allegedly released information detailing functions in a new DS model such as music playback, the inclusion of a digital camera, and a larger screen. The new DS would sell for under 20000 yen in Japan later this year and would additionally allow for data exchange on an SD card between the Wii and DS. As was mentioned, the rumor also says there will be a wireless connection power up function and the digital camera would allow for news types of games.

Keep in mind that this is a very big rumor and I wouldn’t exactly trust this information (hence why I’m marking it as a rumor in the first place!) Even though Nintendo has conferences scheduled next week, considering the DS’ sales have yet to truly slow (and the fact that Nintendo hasn’t exactly been a full SD card supporter), a new system might not be the smartest thing for Nintendo.

Capcom has revealed that there are plans to reveal a bit more about Monster Hunter 3 at this year’s TGS. The game will be shown off on the 11th and 12th of October and it appears both days will have the same content to share with the public. Expected to be at Monster Hunter 3’s presentation is a new promotional video and demo gameplay. Additionally, information regarding monsters and control use will be discussed.

Another Capcom title, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop will also be at TGS on the 11th and 12th. During that time, only a promotion video will be shown.

A live-action Professor Layton movie was announced awhile back, but at Level 5’s Vision Conference, another movie was discussed. An animated film also appears to be in the works while the live-action film still seems to be in production.

Quite honestly, I see the animated feature working out much better than a live-action flick. The cut-scenes in Professor Layton and the Curious Village were actually pretty entertaining and had a great style to them. If you ask me, this is the best way to approach a Professor Layton film.

I’m sure you all remember the first Rock Band game on Wii. You know, how the game did not feature DLC, no online functionality, and overall felt like a gimped experience when compared to its next-gen counterparts. Now a similar situation might be occurring with Rock Band II. According to USA Today, the game will “not offer any Internet connectivity for multiplayer gaming or downloadable music.”

Predictably, MTV Games has responded to the rumor. Fortunately the company has flat-out denied USA Today’s comments and has noted that Rock Band II “will definitely be fully featured.” MTV Games was unable to provide further details about the Wii (or PS2) version of the game, but more information is expected to be shared in the coming weeks.
