Metroid Prime 2 Zelda rumor

According to Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, it may not be long until we see Metroid Prime 2 Remastered, and there’ll be something else happening with Zelda before the year is over.

Grubb was speaking about what he’s heard in the latest episode of the Last of the Nintendogs podcast. Regarding Metroid Prime 2, while it will now be in HD and with modern controls, “it’s not gonna get the love and care that Metroid Prime got”.

Grubb stated:

“Metroid Prime 2 Remastered probably is coming out relatively soonish, that is happening. That probably is happening relatively soonish. … It’s gonna be mostly what people want, right? It’s gonna have the modern controls and it’s gonna be HD and things like that but it’s not gonna get the love and care that Metroid Prime got, no.”

Grubb was one of the original rumormongers concerning remastered versions for the Metroid Prime games. He was originally convinced that the series’ first title would come to Switch last holiday, but Nintendo waited until this past February instead. There was also talk last year that Metroid Prime 2 and Metroid Prime 3 would launch eventually, but not with the same overhaul as Metroid Prime 1.

As for Zelda, Grubb indicated that what’s in the works isn’t related to Tears of the Kingdom – though it’s unclear if it’s game-related (movies and significant merchandise like LEGO could count). He said:

This next phrase, I’m afraid to say so I might not actually say it. Listen… I don’t know what it means, I’m gonna tell you what they told me and if you take this and you spin it into something else everybody, it’s on you. Okay, it’s on you. Something not related to Tears of the Kingdom is happening with Zelda later this year.

What else do you think Nintendo could have in store for Zelda in 2023? Let us know in the comments.
